After returning from her shopping trip with Hermes‘ pack saddle filled to capacity, Kassiopeia had disappeared under deck and stayed there for the rest of the day. She only came up to seek out the ship’s carpenter and sailmaker to then disappear again.
it is only on the next morning (late) that she returns to the deck to introduce the newest member of the crew to the group: „Hello everyone! Please say hello to Hector. He‘ll be traveling with us and his job is to guard Hermes and the cart.“
Hector is a mastiff. Young, but almost fully grown.
He does not look aggressive, but is large enough to weigh as much as Kassiopeia.
“Please get acquainted, but carefully. I‘m sure I can‘t hold him back if you anger him.“
Io turns his head to look at Kass and Hector. Since they are currently not in a combat situation, the visor of his new helmet is raised and his face is not covered. He says, "Hector looks like a very well mannered and friendly dog. I am sure he will make for a delightful companion and good company." He smiles a bit at the mastiff.
Gnorcys gives you a smile and shrugs. "They had a bit of a misunderstanding concerning a man in port." She informs you. "It seems Misty had a fancy for him, and Austin, who was not aware of this... Well... Did what Austin always does, and took the man to her bed." She glances over to the two women in question. "They will be fine, but it nearly came to blows last night."
The crew settles into a more normal pattern, and even Misty and Austin seem to get back to a more normal attitude. The sea is smooth and unthreatening all that day.
That night though the group is woken as the ship suddenly lurches, and alarms are called. It seems the ship hit a small whirlpool. The crew is able to pull the Proud Jester out of it though, without any real trouble, as it was only a small wirlpool, not much of a threat to a ship this size. (Rank 1 whirlpools are only 20ish feet across.)
The rest of the night passes uneventfully.
The next day you are still sailing. Canlos is up in the crows nest, working with his spyglass.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Misty calls out the warning, though Kanlos is only a moment behind her. Anyone with a perception 20 or better can spot it as well.
A group of something is swimming towards the ship. Misty announces them as Giant Crabs, which Kassiopeia and Kanlos would also be able to recognize.
Misty is the only one able to spot the 3 figures following the crabs though. "Looks like the crabs are with a coven of Sea Hags." Misty calls.
"Time to earn your keep!" Gnorcys calls to the group of you. "We can handle the crabs, you need to dealw ith those hags!"
Roll initiative. We will ignore the crabs and the rest of the ship's crew, as those will be dealing with each other. You will only have the sea hags to worry about.

The Sea Hags are currently 60 feet away from the ship. At the end of this round the ship will move 30 feet towards the hags. If the hags move 30 feet on their turn, this means the ship will reach them at the end of the round. They are currently under water though, so keep that in mind when doing this round's actions.

Oblivious to the current tension on deck.
