Eve looks particularly sweetly at Kaseon “Haha! Now we’re really talking... I can be pretty persuasive too, when I need to be!”.
Then she looks at Kanathar and, leaning in, her eyes lock with his for a second or two, seeming to almost glow with some dark fire. She smiles, slowly revealing rows of sharp teeth. The lights seem to dim a little around her, and a distant rumble of thunder can be heard as she speaks “But your way sounds good too...!”.
She sits back, suddenly sweet looking again. ”I think we will all complement each other very well!”.
"I will be checking my room first. I want to make sure that it is defendable." Garcis says as he moves to mess about with something in his pack before thinking better of it and closing the bag.
A moment after Edge calls out for Penn, you hear a voice call out from the back, "Sorry, coming!"
An older bald man with a bushy white beard and moustache quickly steps out from a door behind the front desk and in with him wafts the smells of roasted chicken and potatoes and faintly some kind of soup. "My apologies good folk, well met, my name is Penn and I'll be taking care of any needs you have at the inn. From the number of new faces, I assume you will be staying a while and working for the town? Would you care to settle into your rooms first, or would you like some food and drink? I'm sure the trip here worked up thirsts and appetites no doubt?"
Edge opens his arms wide at the sight of Penn, a big smile on his face.
"Edge already settled," he says. "Drink. Food. And drink again."
He looks expectantly around at the others to join him. He notices that Kaseon and Garcis plainly plan on checking out their rooms first. He nods to them. Then looks at the others.
"Definitely food for this one. Belly hungry," he says gesturing to Kanathar.
Then he leans in closer to Penn, looks around to see if anyone else is nearby, and lowers his voice.
"Friend Penn, tell Edge secret," he says. "What wrong here? Captain already nervous and full of whisper."
Penn pauses momentarily at Edge's request, but nods and says, "It's not exactly a secret, so I am sure the guard captain would have brought you up to speed when he feels you are ready. A couple of weeks ago one of the fishermen came down with something, the doc isn't sure what it is. He's been laid up in the infirmary since they found him passed out in his boat. That wouldn't be that big of a thing, but last week sometime, one of our guardsmen was found in the same condition out in the street. He's been in the infirmary since then as well. The fact two people are laid up in the infirmary with something the doc can't understand has the town folk a bit spooked is all. Anyways, let me get that food and drink for you."
Penn walks back behind his desk and takes out 6 keys with numbers etched into them and hands each of you one. He then goes back through the door behind the desk and comes back a few minutes later with a large platter holding several plates of roasted chickens and potatoes along with a pot of vegetable soup and several large loaves of hot crusty bread.
Garcis takes the key to his room and nods to the man, listening before scrambling down from the chair he had taken as his own. "I will put my things in my room and then return for food. It would perhaps do us good to keep learning all that we can."
Edge looks thoughtfully at Penn when he finishes speaking. Disease. He looks at the key before him for a long moment before finally picking it up and slipping it into a pocket.
"A mystery," he says. "Though disease not pleasant. Edge does not like."
When the food arrives he watches each of the group that stayed begin eating. He watches with fascination how they choose their food and how they get it to their mouth. He is most fascinated by Kanathar.
"You disgust, Edge," he says.
He bursts out laughing.
"Edge like you," he says to Kanathar.
Then he digs into his own food, but very carefully, using utensils only, careful not to get anything on his hands.
Kaseon accepts his key with a slight smile and nod and moves to settle his pack and excess gear, making certain to hide certain parts of his gear as best he can. Then, making sure the door is closed and window is covered, and relaxes in a strange way, his features melting like wax for a moment. He takes a few deep breaths and stretches briefly, then his features reform into their previous shape and rejoins the others. As he sits down, he eats the meat readily enough, but looking at the beer, he turns to the bartender, "Could you bring me some water please? I'd prefer not to get too impaired if we're going to be asking around."
After eating, Eve dashes up to her room. She leaves her bedroll and some of her bulkier equipment. Then she heads back down to the bar to wait, while her companions finish eating or sorting out their rooms and things.
While she’s waiting she pulls out a little, old-looking book to read.
At Kanithar‘s suggestion, Eve jumps up and closes her little book with a snap!
”Yes, that sounds like a decent plan!”, she says smiling and standing beside the half-orc. They certainly make a strange looking pair stood there: she probably only comes up to around his chest.
Eve’s ready to head out and explore the town when the rest of the party is.
After taking her key from the table she eats some soup before starting on some chicken and potatoes. She will be controlled in her eating and show manners while doing so.
When she has her fill she goes up to drop a few things off but is quick to return. Eager to find out more she nods to Kanithars plan. Yes we should not waste time.
Edge finishes his meal. Not so much as a crumb fell off the plate.
He slips his pack on to his shoulders. As he never knows how a day will unfold, or where his interests will take him from moment to moment, he won't leave anything in his room for now.
"Yes. We find mayor now," he says.

Kaseon gives Eve a meaningless smile in return. Turning to Penn as he enters, "I'd like to get settled first, but food right after sounds great."
Edge opens his arms wide at the sight of Penn, a big smile on his face.

Having gotten hungry by the long journey Senna will stay at the table for now, after all she does not have many things to store anyway.
When Penn explains the 'secret' Senna will repeat the words of Imzel that Edge mentioned Another one..
It seems to be spreading then, perhaps we can help find the source of it.
She looks to the side staring blank a moment searching her memory.
An infection would spread to the nearest person, one of the healers, not a guard. Interesting.
Garcis takes the key to his room and nods to the man, listening before scrambling down from the chair he had taken as his own. "I will put my things in my room and then return for food. It would perhaps do us good to keep learning all that we can."
Eve takes her key, and tucks straight in to the food, focussing mainly on the delicious meats and beer.
