Garcis finishes quickly in his room, returning with all of his weapons in tow, still comfortably wearing his armor. As he returns he climbs into his seat, quickly looking through the food given to them. With quick movements he picks out the meat and offers anything else to others. "This food is good. It has been to long since I have had anything other then dried meat..."
"Friend Penn," Edge calls to the innkeeper. "Where to find mayor please?"
While waiting for an answer he watches Garcis eat, noting the quick, careful, movements he uses to pluck the meat out of the dish. He nods while he watches.
Penn looks up quickly from his desk on hearing his name, "From what I understand, Mayor Hulmar is meeting with a member of the merchant's guild from Immilmar currently, but he should have been notified about your presence in the town. He, like many others, always ends his day in the tavern though, and judging by the starting set of the sun, that should be very soon. If you wanted to head over there, everyone should be along soon. Times of war are hard on the people, and we try to alleviate that by gathering almost nightly for a drink amongst friends."
Looking out of the front entrance, sure enough, you see a slow steady crawl of people from different directions making their way to The Salty Boar next door. What had looked like weary faces from your carriage ride in, were now perked up smiling faces of those looking to make merry with friends. As you look about, you see the sun fast making it's descent, giving reign to a dull but ever brightening beautiful half moon in the sky and the nearby tavern that had looked deserted earlier was beginning to liven up for the night's festivities.
Garcis moves to look outside more, seeming to be more comfortable now that the sun was no longer in the sky. He starts to the door, looking back to the others. "Shall we go and find this mayor then? The sooner we do the sooner we can find out exactly what it is that we are to do."
Eve sticks beside Kanithar as they walk out. She seems somewhat reassured by his size, and they seem to have the same mentality about food and drink...
Edge moves quickly through the dining room to join his new companions. He is filled with a mix of excitement and dread. This new town is already proving with the trip. Something mysterious appears to be harming its residents. But if this is a disease, they will need to move with a great deal of caution. He is not a fan of getting sick.
At Kanithar's mention of his name, Edge nods.
"Never the mind, radnoy," he says. "Names good but not so important. Now, go to tavern."
Kaseon rises to join the others as they head out, "I'd be interested to see who else we might meet there. Perhaps we can ask around the people to get a feel for the area while we're there."
You head across the street to join the other townsfolk in the tavern and immediately see why it's seperate from the inn. Where the inn had a few tables in the commonroom and had food and ale, the tavern is just one large room with a bar running along the back wall with a door in the back left corner. The large center area of the room has a square painted on the floor and some of the folk are laughing and dancing to music being made on the small stage to the left by two men playing a lyre and a flute.
To the far right of the room, several tables sit with cards and dice waiting to be used and next to that is a designated space with wooden boards on the wall lined with a humanoid silhouette painted on it. Several men are standing around cheering at another man throwing daggers at the silhouette. In front of the large dance floor are several more tables of people ordering drinks and chatting with friends, while the right front corner of the room has a large fireplace that has a small fire burning in it with a massive bearskin rug in front on the floor. Lying on the rug is a large wolf seemingly dozing while a halfling woman leans back against it draining a mug of ale.
As you are standing taking it all in, Captain Shaumar steps in the door behind you. "Ah there you are, how are you settling in? I just talked to the mayor and he should be along shortly, he just went to retrieve some supplies for you."
"As said things are going well so far. We came to learn more of this town and of the job that the mayor has for us. The sooner the danger is done away with the better." Garcis says before walking further inside and finding a spot where he can comfortably sit.
“Yes, yes. All settled,” Edge says as he takes in the room with a smile on his face. This is a festival. He eyes everything especially noting the dice. He paid many bills playing dice games.
As soon as he spots the halfling with the wolf all else becomes secondary. He heads straight for her.
“Ah, kotik, Edge like you already. How you and wolf friend?”
Eve likes the look of this tavern a lot. And if things don’t escalate too quickly with the unexplained illness in town, she could get use to whiling away evenings here, tempting the gods of fate with cards and dice.
When Captain Shaumar greets them again she asks, “Supplies? For us? What supplies are they?... What exactly does the mayor have is store for us?!”.
Senna: Shaumar nods at you, "You heard us talking I presume? I wanted to take you to see in person rather than just speaking of it as you stepped off the carriage into town, but it seems that for a third weekend in a row we've had someone fall ill in the town. With everything going on with the war and such, people are quick to think this is just another way the Thayans are striking at us. I don't want to jump to premature conclusions just yet, but even our doctor doesn't seem to understand what it is. Let's have a seat and give the mayor a bit to make his way here, and once that's out of the way I can take you and any of your companions to see Imzel. Sound good?"
Edge: As you step towards the halfling woman, the wolf raises it's head and looks you up and down, attempting to determine if you pose a threat or not, but Ridley hops up with her eyes wide open, "Oh my goodness, one of the Tabaxi? You are one of the Tabaxi right? I don't want to offend, I just thought I'd never meet one in my lifetime!" With that she hops up and down a bit clapping her hands together lightly with a huge grin on her face.
Eve: Shaumar turns to you and says, "Oh, just the standard fare along with your starting wages. We can't expect people to show up if we aren't keeping our end of the deal right?"
Edge is almost as delighted with Ridley's reaction to seeing him as he was on seeing her with the wolf.
"Yes, yes. No offend. Edge is Tabaxi," he says as he smooths out his spotted fur (think snow leopard), and pats down the fur on the top of his head, getting in a little quick primping and preening, before turning slightly to give Ridley a few of his profile, which Edge thinks is by far the best way to take him in.
"Edge and friends hear story about you, kotik," he says. "Must tell about how you got here. And wolf. Must tell about wolf."
He waves for the others to come over by the fireplace.
While they're waiting for the mayor and the others chit chat, Kaseon drifts around the room, making small talk and listening to the conversations, trying to gauge the mood of the people.

"Fascinating."

Eve comments, “Well it sounds like we need to head to another bar... Ha!.. Maybe this assignment won’t be too bad after all...” she says with a wink.

As Senna walks in she takes a look at all the activities the people are doing. Seemingly care free.
We are settling in just fine, getting used to the local customs and all. Penn has provided us with a room and a meal as you said.
Taking a moment to pauze.
If i may ask, what did Imzel need you for? I know a bit of medicine myself, perhaps i could be of service to her.

Eve moves from the Captain over to Ridley and the wolf at Edge’s signal. She sits near the fire on the floor relishing the heat on her back.
”Oh yes do tell!”, she says, like a child settling down for a bed time story...
