The Forge of Fury

GB to the party;

"You hear that?  GB hears blacksmithing..."

"I thought this place abandoned...there is no way the rabble we have encountered could be versed in smithy..."

"I have heard rumors that the ghosts of the dwarves still work the forges" she tells them.

“No talk of ghost, in gives me the creeps” Bel tells them as he check out the doors and statues. (This includes putting his ear against the doors to try and figure out which one the noise is coming from.)

The distant clanging seems to be echoing throughout the chamber; Bel cannot ascertain where the sound originates. The doors (on either side of the dual-axe dwarf statue) are thick and solid, and no sound can be heard through directly through them. Both are unlocked, and both have pull handles. 

Aregarak will also listen to see if he can tell where the hammering is coming from

After pausing and listening with the group GB walks to the right of the statue and attempts to pull one open as quietly as possible.   

"GB hears them busy at work, we may sneak if violence is needed."  he whispers to the group.

To Aregarak's ears, the reverberating sound seems like it's originating from beyond the east wall. Maybe the sound is slipping through cracks in the masonry? As Aregarak moves towards the wall to discern the sound, Lana notices some faint tracks through the dust on the floor...it looks like an infrequently-used trail, leading towards the blank wall. 

Meanwhile, just as Aregarak is exploring the sound, GB pulls on the door, belatedly noticing subtle scratch marks in the heavy wood. As he does so, there is a loud CLANK, and the dwarf statues—all previously inanimate—swing their axe-laden arms down in the direction of the two doors, right where GB and Bel are standing!

Lana yells just as the pull the doors open but realizes it to late as the axes come chopping down at her companions. Readying her bow she searches for anything that may be approaching. 

Perception 10

Bel yells in anguish as he is hit in the back shoulder, sending him to the ground. “Guys, I think we should assume we are not dealing with stupid orcs anymore. Use some caution” he tells them through tightly closed teeth of pain. “Lana, you mind? I’m out of potion”

Lana nods her head "come closer to me " she tells him. Reaching out and touching his arm she speaks her elven healing spell.

The oaken door that GB pulled finished swinging open, revealing a plain stone wall. It was a false door!

 The hammering you heard seems to be coming from far past the stone wall behind the dwarf statue on the east side of the room. The wall behind the statue appears as blank stone. Besides the stairway that you used to get to this room, there doesn't seem to be another exit. The two iron-bound oak doors seem to lead nowhere. You are able to investigate things as you see fit.

I should also point out that the center and right-most dwarven statues' weapon arms have fallen, swinging down apparently only under the force of gravity. They are now resting with the axes pointing in a downward direction. The left-most statue, on the west wall, is still holding its axe aloft. 

"The hammering sounds like its coming from this direction....." and he'll point at the east wall "perhaps there is a secret passageway"

and he'll stare hard at the wall around the statue to the east [Investigation: 10]

The secret door behind the east statue is well hidden, but Aregarak’s astute observation allows him to find it with little trouble—a simple button-push mechanism, like the secret doors far above at the Mountain Door, where you had hidden days ago from the orcs.

The door slides opens and reveals a flight of stone stairs that leads upward. Dimly lit by your torch, you can just make out a stone door at the top of the stairwell, about 25 feet from the secret entrance. The door appears to have a carving in it—the glowering face of a dwarf.

Bel thanks Lana before turning to the big guy “good work. Maybe you should take my job, HAHA”

Aregarak snorts "Maybe you should search better before opening random doors....." and he'll let out a low reverberating chuckle at Bel

“I didn’t open the door” Bel blurts out as he as he winks and shrugs in GB’s direction. 😁
