The Forge of Fury

The short woman speaking with Lana draws back and puts her hand on her own sword hilt in response to Aregarak's minute movement. 

"No sudden movements!" She says in her heavily-accented voice. "You—elf—you, only you, place bag on floor, slow. And then back away! I will examine contents, then we will talk." She clearly still does not trust you.

Aregarak can still hear the hammer-on-iron ringing through the stony halls. 

Bel keeps his blade in hand ready for anything as he surveys the area while keeping one eye on shorty.

he gets distracted by a song stuck in his head.....something about some dwarves and a pale princess.

Lana places the jewel they found in the bag removing majority of the coin and places it on the ground a few feet in front of her and takes one step back. "I have made a generous offer now it is your turn" she comments in the creatures native tongue.

GB watches this all unfold with Lana, unsure what is being communicated but aware of the tension.  GB is mentally preparing for a fight unsure what this may bring about.  

The duergar's eyes narrow as you make the alterations and place the bag on the floor, but she quickly scoops it up and pulls the ruby out to look at it. As it gleams in the torchlight, her eyes light up considerably. She pockets the jewel and ties the bag of silver coins to her belt. "Very well," she says in common again, heavily accented. "For the silver you may pass through our territory to the north...and for the gem, you may have one gem of information. The rest of our home is forbidden to enter. Would you like to know of the waterways under the mountain, or of the halls to the north?" She looks expectantly to you as a group.

Lana looks to the group "Ok we have one shot at this" she tells them. "Which way and what information do we want" she asks.

“Wait a minute” Bel blurts out, “ how do we know your info is good. You might send us off into a trap and we didn’t come here just to explore some dingy cave” Bel says in flustration. “We came for things, heirlooms, weapons, etc”

GB hears Bel shouting and Lana trying to translate and he quietly casts Mage Armor on himself if things go sour.

The gray dwarf seems distracted by Bel's blustering, and doesn't seem to notice GB's magic usage.

"You already pay for information! And you are not getting our things," she spits back at Bel. "We make them, and we keep them. You want to avoid traps, you ask for the information. That is how exchange works. You want all information, you pay more."

As she says these things, she backs up towards a stone bench set on the far side of the room. "Either ask your questions, pay more, or begone."
