As you continue along the track, other eyes appear from time to time, usually being a single large eye, but a few times swarms of smaller orbs make their appearance.
Each step seems to bring the hulking building more into focus. Every light breeze carries the moans of the dying and the damned.
As the details emerge with proximity, the structure seems to be a cathedral some 500' in length and at least 50' to the rooftop, with pinnacles reaching another 20' or more into the sky. The track seems to approach directly to and through a rough earthen rampart midway along the side of the place. From this range, you are able to discern the moans you have been hearing are in reality the sounds of the wind through the gables and spires of cathedral itself.

"Perhaps a mouse or small bird might be a better choice than a bear in this situation. Perhaps you could scout ahead for us? You could see what the entrance looks like. We came all this way we have to go in." Suggests Barnabus.
Kina looks sidelong at Barnabus. "I don't think even I would risk using my ridiculous strategy again." she murmurs. "However, behaving in a passive way does definitely seem to give them pause... but given the sheer size and scale of this building, it took the work of many, many hands to build and it would take just as many to maintain it. We're marching right into the heart of their forces, it looks like, and I'm not sure we all could resist whatever sorcery this 'One' uses to enslave people if they just decided to take us in." she says, then her shoulders hunch.
"Then again, they already know we're coming. Is stealth even an option at this point? I really don't like this." she says dejectedly.

"I could scout that way, but it would leave one of our most powerful fighters seriously limited for any combat that comes up." Cade says with a frown. "I also don't see the reason for doing so, as they already know we are here. At this point I think we just walk in and see what we see."
"I just realized that we are assuming the eyes are watching for them. They may still not know we are here. But if they do then why has no one confronted us? Lets knock but in two separate groups in case the second needs to assist the first." Suggest Barnabus as he prepares to follow Wil to the gate.
(This is the best image I can find for the layout ... however, there are no trees inside the ramparts, but there is a large barn NE of the main building. You are approaching from the left side. Also note that each square is 30'.)

An odd thing you notice about the ramparts around the compound....they seem to be relatively new, but are laced with worked stone that looks VERY old and weathered. It brings to mind that there had, in ages past, been stone walls where the ramparts now lay that had been brought down, either by force, or the passage of time. The only erect stones you see (aside from the main building) are the stump of perhaps a watchtower at the northeast corner of the outer wall.
The barn-like structure to the northwest also looks to be relatively new, likely less than 5 years old.
And finally, the main structure, for all the fine details in the construction, does not seem to be well maintained, to say the least. The windows are all just gaping holes with no glass visible in them at all.
You periodically hear voices on the breeze coming from the structure, many and indistinct, as well as the distinctive sounds of an anvil, or more likely, multiple anvils, being worked.
"Someone knows we are here, but I am thinking not many know it." Cade says as he looks around. "We have 3 choices... Check out that tower stub over there, check out the barn over there, or just slip inside the main building and start poking around in there." he nods to each of the building as he speaks. "I vote for just heading inside the main building and poking around, but am not against doing one of the other ones first."
The sun is setting as you follow the track through the gap in the rampart. The only visible doors to the main building are to the right at the south end of the building. However, as you move closer to the building, you opt for a peek in the open windows before heading to the door. Inside you see what appears to be a large smithy with multiple forges, anvils and workbenches. As the sun is setting, only a few people are visible and appear to be in the process of banking the forges for the night. Deeper into the building, though, you see much more activity in what appears to be a common dining area. In the southern wing of the building you can make out row upon row of bunks. This place was designed to easily house several hundred.

However, just before you decide to check the doors directly, you take a peek in the southern windows. The entire area is filled with row upon row of bunks and people milling around, apparently preparing to rest for the night. There are far too many figures moving about to tell just how many people without risk of being spotted.
