The shaft down is roughly 5' diameter, with a ladder (that has proven to be less than reliable, sorry Barney) down one side. With the climbing gear and using the Immovable Rod, it will be a simple matter for everyone to descend.
(It is literally almost large enough to drop a vintage VW Beetle down, so not really a tight fit at all.)

Kina looks at the shaft, and brings out her climbing gear. "I was REALLY hoping I wouldn't have to use this so soon." she says, looking down the tunnel with more than a little anxiety. She's not a fan of constrictive places. "I'll go first... if I slip, I don't want to flatten the rest of you if I fall." she mutters, steeling herself for the climb.

"I hate to disagree but this might not be the best idea. I appreciate the consideration but those of us more accustomed to the tight quarters and darkness that lies ahead should probably take the lead. Have no fear we will be fine lowerin you down. My bigger concern is someone will have to use the ladder so that we can retrieve the bar." Says Barnabus as he gently takes the rope andreadies himself to go down.
Rachelshakes her head, "I can work my way down, marginally using the ladder, but resetting the rod every few feet, so I should be able to catch myself if the ladder gives out more."

"Excellent!" Replies Barnabus "Shall we then? " he says while swinging in to position over the shaft. "Lower away." Once down he moves a 10 feet down the tunnel to insure it's still safe.
"Maybe not, Wil, but I think it will be safer than going in the front door. I suppose you and Cade could go and try and let the rest of us in but it would still mean being out in the open. Plus I don't like splitting us up and we still have no way to know whats in there."
At the bottom of the shaft is a semi-worked chamber cut from the bedrock about 10'x15' in size. A 5' wide passage heads off roughly north. No other exits are visible, and the only tracks match up with Wiland Barney from the night before.
The passage winds along what seems to be a natural seam in the bedrock. Some 200' along, the passage opens into a roughly oval natural chamber.
Directly opposite, it appears that the passage at one time continued, but has since collapsed and is now filled with rubble. Additionally, a section of the left wall appears to be collapsing inward, revealing a small gap.

Wil stays with the group, but a flash of concern shows on his face over Kina being underground again, and the mental strain it might cause.
”I agree we should keep the group together as much as possible. Let me scout ahead of the group out of range of your torches so we can make sure we don’t give anyone advance warning of our presence in the tunnel.”
OOC: LOL looks like I’m 2 or 3 posts behind in my responses.. so we’re all in the room 200’ from the shaft.
You peek through the space and see a passage extending beyond. You also notice that the section appears to have been a secret door hinged to open inward, but the hinges have deteriorated and are failing. You believe properly levered, the door could be opened or dropped into the room safely.

"Seems like our way forward." Cade says as he stands near the little gap as well." he looks around. "Do you think this is part of the main building?" (DM, does this seem to be a short enough passage it could lead to the main building, or have we moved further than that, and might be outside of the complex's area now?)

(The passage you have been following has been leading away from the main building, but sloping downward, and is typical for an escape route from a larger complex. The side passage behind the section of wall appears to curve back to the south and the main building.)

Cade: you can think of a number of things that would cause a similar slimy substance, but none that would just vanish like that.
