"Aye lads, I doubt the threat has any teeth. Fife here isn't warning me of any surprises." says Barnabus with a mischievous grin. To the voice in the aether and with a wink at Will he goes on to say, "Do yer worst. Your threats fall on deaf ears for none here are swayed by yer empty words" He starts searching the room with the rest.
Inside the room, the destruction seen with the door continues, as most of what had at one time been there has been reduced to shards and splinters. Atop a small pile of decaying rags and shattered bones, you see the dome of a skull, one eye socket remains intact, but little else. A blue/green pinpoint of light shines in the socket. The voice speaks again, this time in a plaintive whine, "I'm too old for these games. Why can't you just leave me be?"
Wil: You recognize the destruction as being the effects of a Shatter spell, only cast at a VERY high level.

“If you are not ‘The One’ then we’re not here for you. We are just passing through on our way to deal with ‘The One’. We’d prefer to avoid an unnecessary fight as I think all of us will come out the worse for it. Truce?
Wil points to the rubble, pantomimes a ‘boom’ with his hand, and motions for everyone spread out away from each other.
Wil de-knocks the arrow from his bow and puts it back in his quiver.
"I'm not sure... maybe? We were all attacked by fanatic or brainwashed cultists who said they were followers of "The One". The tried to kidnap us to grow their ranks. Does that sound anything like the 'Old One" that you mentioned? Who is The Lady?"
"Hmmm, Iuz, who was commonly known as 'The Old One,' would use many different ploys to gain followers. Brainwashing seems to be a new ploy for him, though. If its him, he must have a new tool in his belt. And who is The Lady, you ask? Surely you know where you stand? Oh, wait, you really don't, do you? It has been a long time. This temple complex was once the scourge of the plane, founded by The Lady of Fungus, the demoness Zuggtmoy herself. But all that was before that army led by Tenser and his band destroyed it all and The Lady vanished."

Kina steps forward, curiously. "Well... all of that is hugely confusing and not helpful... so how about we start over?" she asks. She figures the hidden door can wait for now. "Who are you, and why are you still in this place?" she wonders. After all, there's no reason to not at least try diplomacy first. She relaxes her stance and lets her staff rest on her shoulder.

The voice is silent for a moment. "Me? I am ... I am ... the name escapes me at the moment. I was the high priest of the Water Faction of the temple. Killed by that fool Biggby and his spell. I am still here because the necromantic energy of this place brings back the souls of any killed here to reanimate their corpse. Not much of a corpse left for me, but that didn't stop me being trapped here."

"You say you were a priest of the water faction then perhaps you know what is being held behind the door in the temple of air.." He says to the spirit. He goes on to describe what the group saw in the other room.
The light in the eye dims momentarily, as if deep in thought, then brightens, "there was nothing like that here in my time. The door was normal and opened to the promenade up to the Earth Faction's temple. By your description, it would seem to be a powerful warding or containment enchantment."

"A little of both, I would imagine. This place bound me back to what's left of my physical form, such as it is. While here, I am bound to that. I would ask that you not take me out of the temple complex however. It's not much of a life, but it is all I have left."
Noticing Cadeexploring the room, "Out of curiosity, is the bear a pet? He seems very well behaved."
“The bear is our companion, he is an equal rather than a pet. Are you bored with this room? Would you care to accompany us while we are within the temple complex?”
"Ah, a druid, then I am guessing. Bored? Not really. It is comfortable, if somewhat stagnate. I suppose seeing what has happened to the rest of the complex wouldn't be a bad idea, though. What do you propose?"

"Truce? Huh, why not. But who is 'The One'? Could you mean the 'Old One'? Has he taken a new name in The Lady's absence?"
