From inside his illusionary box, Usul quickly pulls his crossbow around and aims it towards the creature, almost too scared to think anything other than ‘AHHH!’ Aiming at it is tough while it’s on the ground though, so he takes a breath and holds his shot waiting for the creature to stand.
shot should be at advantage for being unseen in the illusion, but I could always take the Aim bonus action if needed since I’m not moving anyway. Prone = disadvantage, which would take the adv away, so ready action for it to stand, going back to advantage, and then shoot. Strong attack. Attack: 23 Damage: 46
Silthras remains glued to the spot - his limbs refusing to react to the frantic thoughts in his mind telling them to do something. Warm returns to Velyra's body as she breaks the effects of the psychic attack, now able to move once more.

As it begins to move back towards the group, a bolt shoots across the room and impales the top eyeless socket of the monstrosity. It doubles over in soundless agony, ripping the crossbow bolt from its dark socket. It glares at the gnome, pure hatred seeming to emanate from the black voids of its eyes. Silently, it darts towards the door out onto the landing, jumping over the railing onto the stairs and disappearing down to the first floor.

The paralysis saving throw is repeated at the end of the turn.
Also for Usul, it definitely saw you throw up that illusion right in front of it. ;)
Usul snaps his fingers and Dib appears on the other side of the door where the creature had gone. He telepathically sends a message to follow it, but not get too close, and to run back immediately if the creature turns to attack. He then quickly goes to his friends and starts to shake them, saying “Wake up! It’s gotten away!”He then pops his vision into his rodent friend to see what it sees as he chases after the creature.
As Silthras shakes off the paralysis, Usul's eyes glaze over white as he begins to perceive through his familiar's senses. The pale, spindly figure moves quickly through the manor, outpacing the weasel easily. Through Dib's vision, Usul is able to see the creature dart through the dining room below, and into the western room the party went through earlier. The magical weasel turns the corner in the room just in time to see the thing disappear down the stairs into the basement. There is no sound as it moves down the steps, and as Dib pokes his head around the corner to look down the dark staircase, he sees no sign of the creature.
Silthras sighs with relief, "That went better than it might have...what was that?"
As he asks the question, he moves closer to the husk of the body from which the creature emerged. "We may need to burn the bodies downstairs..." he says.

Kal presses a glowing hand to his wound, healing(12hp) with his Lay on Hands. "Painful is what it was." He grunts, following Silthras over to the remains. "You may be right, but right now I won't feel comfortable doing much else until that thing is dead or for sure gone."
While he and Velyra search through the mess that was once a woman, Kal will walk back over to the gnome, and wait for him to snap out of his trance and tell them what he saw.
Usul quickly explains that it went into the basement as he pops Dib back to his shoulder, adding frantically, “It is quite hurt! Your spell and our bolt hit it very hard! Should we chase after it before it has time to lick its wounds?”
Silthras smiles at Kal's remark, then nods. "Finish up here, then the basement? There could be more or those ... things. We really don't want any more of them behind us. Next time we see someone that looks like that...we know what we have to do."
He flexes his arms, relieved to have control of his body, and terrified to have lost all control. "I hope that's the only one. Have any of you seen or heard of such a thing?"
As Velyra pokes through the muck and clothes on the floor, looking for anything useful, she laughs nervously. "I'm sure it was quite painful, try dodging next time yeah?"
"If we're going to finish up here, I would say just a quick run through of the rooms to make sure nothing else will try and ambush us. I don't like the idea of staying in here with that thing a moment longer than we need to."
"By Sandail is there anything useful in here?" Investigation: 13
"Agreed. I think we need to finish this thing off as quickly as possible. There's no telling what it's capable of if we give it enough time to prepare."
Searching through the remains of the woman is tough - and mostly disgusting. Torn skin, muscle, shattered bones, and blood cover the clothes, which have been ripped to shreds themselves. There were a few things on her belt before she was torn apart: a set of thieves tools and a dagger. She had a silver bracelet on her wrist worth 5gp.
Going over the room in a quick search, the both of you start at the desk. There a few papers sitting on it, but disturbingly the text has been covered by sharp, angled letters of an unknown alphabet in what you suspect is dried blood. Glancing through a few of the books on the shelf, you find the same thing. All three cabinets in the room are stuffed with extra bedding, pillows, and linens. On the south wall, the skull of what was once a very adolescent dragon sits atop one of the cabinets.

The lock on this chest clicks open, and the gnome finds it disappointingly stacked full of leather bound papers. A quick glance through them reveals them to be ledgers, going back at least 80 years. There are a variety of names listed in them, with a few notable noble family names being listed several times over.
