"We've found this place by accident. We have a few shovels and pickaxes with us, but no real weapons." "That's why we were about to go away and get weapons when you came. We didn't really try to fight one. The only one who tried facing one of them was quickly digested by his foe. Poor fella."
The female dwarf goes towards the group and unstraps a shovel from one of the backpacks. "Here, you can take mine. Just promise to return it? I don't have another one..."
Barthrum says, "Thank you. I will either come back with the shovel or not at all. You have my word."
He draws his longsword and drops the shovel handle first into his belt loop, ready to be drawn in case of need. He also loosens his javelins and sets them over his shoulder for easy draw-and-throw action as well.
"I know for sure that I have eyes that see better in the light. It would seem odd for a pile of jam that dissolves people to have eyes at all. Taking torches seems like a logical idea"
"The dwarves who lived here seemed to have relied on their dark vision entirely. We didn't see any place where torches could be hung." "Either way, we never really carry torches with us. Digging stuff out of mines takes too much time and using torches would be a waste of money. We also use our natural ability to see in the dark. Considering you're all dwarves, you should be able to do so as well."
From the moment you entered the settlement, everything was dim-lighted. You didn't notice it because you see just as good inside. From the door to the temple on, it'll be completely dark without a source of light, so dim-lighted for you.
As you go in, it seems like a normal hallway at first, ending in another open double-door. You start walking in, but suddenly you notice something to your left. Thinking it's a monster, you quickly turn around, just to find a half-open secret door. You come closer and look at it. It looks like it was part of the wall, and as if it was pushed into it, revealing a perfectly cut stone which would have left almost no space between it and the wall if closed. When you take a look into the room, all you can see is rubble.
You look at the ceiling, and all you see is a ceiling. It has some carved drawings of dwarves stealing money from some large figure, but that's about it.
You look at the floor. You can definitely see areas that look as if a huge snail passed over them, leaving a yellowish trail behind, but there are so many trails on the floor you can't really follow one and determine where it comes from or where it goes to.

Barthrum says, "We better take a look then. We have a bit of a day left and see how far we get before the day grows too long."
He looks at Thenmer and Dolgrim, "What say you?"
And to the rest of the dwarves, "Anything you have that can help us? Wouldn't mind a shovel as a backup to be honest, I'm pretty good with it."
The female dwarf goes towards the group and unstraps a shovel from one of the backpacks. "Here, you can take mine. Just promise to return it? I don't have another one..."

"Ready when you are."
"Anyone got a torch to light? I would rather have clear sight to see them coming"
He checks his armor straps are all tight and readies himself to go.
D: Do you have any idea, whether the monsters can see in the night?
He looks at Dolgrim

D: well, I have a few torches, you can take htem if you wish, but I'll rely on my sight
(Pulls the torches out of his bag, and hands them to the others)
Nods in appreciation and light a torch.
”Good. Now let’s see what’s what”

“Strange jam monsters are as likely to be there as anywhere. Shall we have a look?”
He clasps his lucky Crystal in one hand and a lit torch in the other, looking warily at the ceiling.
Thenmer, make a perception check.

“Right, best stick together so nothing catches us by surprise “
Thenmer waits to see if the other two want to check this out
Barthrum looks at the ground for any markings of passage.. wondering what the markings left by a jelly would look like.
Barthrum, make a perception check, DC 13. If you succeed, make an investigation check.
Varielky
Barthrum perception check: 14, investigation check 9
