(The Grappled only reduces your speed to 0. There's plenty of things you could do, when your turn comes. Also, I forgot to mention, but Dolgrim and any of you who avoid the grapple can get an opportunity attack.)
Plenty of things is relative to being a level 1 sorcerer! So not that much. But he will do what he can. Also note he will use Shield spell on an incoming attack if it will make a difference.
As the dragon swoops by, grabbing Thenmer away, Barthrum manages to avoid her claw and retalliates along with Dolgrim! Though the dragon manages to dodge Dolgrim's attack, Barthrum gets her hard. She lets out a loud scream and starts to flap her wings, with Thenmer still in her claws! Both Dolgrim and Barathrum charge forward but when they attack, Dolgrim's hammer misses and Barthrum's sword is deflected away by the dragon's hard scales.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Thenmer calculates his chances of survival as almost zero but he recalls the same calculation while he was buried under the collapsed mineshaft.
He calls to mind the laws of power, and tries to direct that power through his hands into the dragon, seeing if it would at least discourage the beast. Electricity arcs as he tries to assert his will over the dragon and the very stuff of reality.
Thenmer tries to shock the dragon. Small sparks appear around his hand, but with all the metallic armour both he and the other dwarves are wearing, right next to the dragon, the energy is discharged on Barthrum. Luckily, Barthrum isn't harmed by the spell. In fact, he feels like some traces of the magic remained in him, even after the sparks disappear. The dragon begins to lift herself off the ground! She flaps her large wings around and the air that is pushed down on the ground prevents Barthrum and Dolgrim form attacking her during this time. She disengages from them and tries to leap to the air. However, considering Thenmer's heavy weight, especially with his armour on, she can't lift him well and doesn't gain much distance. She is, however, in the air, though only a few feet above the ground, still within reach. Although it seems like the dragon is about to take off with your friend, hope is not lost! Since Barthrum's sword is now filled with electricity, it will try to connect with something conductive. It seems like Thenmer's armour is made out of metal, and the dragon's claw is covering it. He just has to be careful not to hit Thenmer himself...
(Barthrum - You get advantage on the attack roll, shall you choose to attack. Failure or success might have more consequences - good or bad - than simply hitting or not this time. Of course, you could also try something else.)
Barthrum sword almost misses but is then pulled forcefully at the metallic armour, hitting the dragon's claws that are in between! The dragon screeches and releases Thenmer who falls to the ground. The fall hurts but is not from high enough to deal any significant damage. The dragon rises a few feet more into the sky, then turns its head to you. "I'll remember this!" She says in, to your surprise, the Common language, and she then flaps her wings once and boosts herself up so fast none of you can react. She then flies off, as you see her figure leaving your field of view.
As the air suddenly feels warmer around you, or rather, normal again, two dwarves rush out through the broken gate. Each of them is holding a shield and a pickaxe. "What's all the ruckus about?" asks one. "Must be trouble. No one just wanders over here for no reason." answers the other.
D: Well, we came to warn you about that dragon *Dolgrim points with his thumb somewhere behind him*. I am Dolgrim, Dolgrim Frostbeard, This is Barthrum and Thenmer
As Dolgrim points towards him then he's actually a bit further away, doubled over and ... emptying his stomach on the ground. He then goes and picks up his shield and stands a bit further away, burping a bit. "Excuse me, I'll be right there."
"Dragon? Did he say the dragon grabbed him, but he's still here? Sounds suspiscious..." "Wait, you old obsidian, look at their armour, their weapons. They might be able to help us with our problem..." "Ah fine, but I'm keeping an eye on them." He then turns to you. "Listen, since this old knight here has to trust everyone he sees," he says with obvious tone of sarcasm, "why don't you sleep here with us tonight? It's going to get dark and cold really soon anyway. You've warned us and we're thankful for that so you could leave first thing tomorrow or..." "We have a problem here that we would like your help with, if it's not to much of a bother. If you manage to solve it for us, we'll reward you of course."
Either way, they gesture for you to follow them and start walking towards the gate.
With a cross look on his face Thenmer focuses his frustration on to the mound of earth, as the cogwheels seem to gather round him the earth moves back to where it had been, there is no longer a trench across the path.
"Was useless anyway. Need to think of something better for when that monster finds us again"
As you walk, the dwarves explain: "All knowledge of this settlement, including its name, vanished along with its original inhabitants, who were killed by an avalanche." You pass through the gate and see the outlines of stone buildings as collapsed walls all around. As you walk past them, the other one continues: "When we found this place, we were very excited. Beyond this ruined settlement is a mostly-perserved dwarven temple to the God of Greed. We couldn't explore most of it though, as we quickly found our numbers to be decreasing. Eventually, we found the reason to be monsters that took residence within. With our equipment, we can't deal with them. We were actually just packing our things and were preparing to go get proper weapons when we heard loud roars outside and met you. You know the rest."
You walk past the settlement and reach a courtyard. A partially collapsed, ten-foot-high wall separates this courtyard from the settlement west of it. Three heaps of rubble are piled high in this area. Hewn from the canyon’s back wall, a thirty-foot-high temple facade features steps rising to a stone platform. Cut into this facade is a ten-foot-high open doorway flanked by crumbling, life-sized granite statues of cloaked dwarves. Evil grins can be seen on their weatherworn faces. Behind one of the rubble piles you can see a few dwarves sitting and eating a few packs of rations. They get up and greet you when they see your unfamiliar faces.
Barthrum is getting over his shock and takes in the area with full attention.
(Would he know of any settlement or temple that would have been in this area? It feels like somewhat close to his home territory, which I imagine was originally in a similar spot, but on the south side of the Sword Mountains)
"Any idea how long ago roughly did this happen?"
He points to the heaps of rubble near the wall, "These would have been storage and armory. At least that's how we had them." As they walk deeper in he identifies the use of partially destroyed buildings and other features in the area. He hasn't felt so much at home ever since he left the caves more than a month ago.
(He's also got the Stonecunning feat - Whenever you make an Intelligence (History) check related to the origin of stonework, you are considered proficient in the History skill and add double your proficiency bonus to the check, instead of your normal proficiency bonus.)
He greets the others, "Well met, I am Barthrum. This is Master Thenmer and Master Dolgrim. Quite a find you have here!"
Barthrum is unable to recall any useful information about the place's history. The settlement seems to be an ancient one, forgotten long before his clan went underground. This is also confirmed by one of the dwarves. "No, we came upon this place by chance. It doesn't appear on any map or in any records." says a female dwarf who seems to be younger than Barthrum by several years. "Well, well, give them space." says one of the dwarves you met earlier. "These fine fellas here have agreed to help us with our problem here, so we don't have to leave after all!" These words are followed by excited cheers from all the other dwarves. "You could sleep with us first, or go in right now. The monsters are pretty much everywhere in the temple, so it might take time to clear all of them. The temple door is right over there." he points towards the open doorway.
"The monsters are a yellowish kind of ooze. They can stick to walls and even the ceiling, so watch for those areas as well. Some of us were surprised by one falling directly on them. It didn't end well for most of us." as he speaks, the young female dwarf seems to shake for a moment. It looks more like disgust rather than fear though. "Horrible things," she says, "no shape, no head nor any limbs. More like a weird kind of jam that's come to life."
"If you get rid of all of them, as well as any other dangers, if you discover any; we'll reward you with these." Both he and the other dwarf each take a small stone out of their pouch. "These are Sending Stones. We used to use them to communicate, but we don't need them anymore as we found other ways to do it. We'll give them to you if you clear the temple of dangers for us."
Thenmer thought about this. The Sending Stones were a fair reward for danger while the creatures - if they were like jam in consistency - might be hard to kill with weapons.
"The payment seems fair. If we are to do this we should see if my ability to manipulate the laws of the elements will harm them more than ordinary weapons might. Strange goo like creatures may be difficult to deal with otherwise. If neither weapons nor harmful elements work we would have to retreat and reconsider."

Thenmer picks himself up and dusts himself off
"Seems you just missed what this is about, its about a dragon. I think I may still have frost on my armour from where it grabbed me"
He turns to Barthrum
"Thank you for your quick reaction, I thought I was beyond hope for a moment there"

He follows the dwarfs, hard in thought.
When he hears about possible troubles, Dolgrim prepares his shield and joins the archeologists
