The air tries again to fling some rocks at Farok's head. It has been distracted by Pocket and its talons, and so the air has some troubles balancing the rocks in the air...
Attack: 23 Damage: 13
Attack: 11 Damage: 19
...and the rocks smash against the walls with great velocity and smash to bits.
Fril and Peek are up! I will wait for Math to catch up now, or will bot tomorrow afternoon if need be.
"It almost dead! Look at it! Look at it!"Peek exclaims, as both him and Fril launch more arrows toward the spinning air mass. Peek also hides beforehand.
"Reload, and fire!" Cami describes her actions as she's doing them, a little out of fear she'll panic and do it too fast, as she still considered the elemental scary. She doesn't move at all, as her position was perfect to fire her cannon at it.
(On their turn) Pocket will repeat exactly what they did on the last turn. They could stay around and help Farok more directly, but Cami was too scared to leave her poor frail owl too close to the elemental, so Pocket flies right back.
Cami, this time the pellet hits. Immediately after that happens, the air mass starts heating up rapidly as it starts to smoke. Not the regular air the way it looks, but it's actually burning in its own mid-air as it starts to smoke and smoke as the smoke is blown all through the hallways. There is enough ventilation through all of the hallways that none of you suffocate in any way. There are embers now starting to fly everywhere as well as Cami you can now see that this thing has slowly stopped blowing and is now just smoke slowly dissipating.
The air elemental is 'dead'.
"Yaaaa! Peek told you! Peek told you!"
What is next? I will update the maps after we get input from all of the players as to what might be the next plan of action.
Farok stands tall and brushes himself off from the debris that can flown around. Then looking around and gesturing the direction they were headed, he says, “We were following your sharp eyes I believe.”
"Yes, Peek can keep going first? Birdman boss tell me where to go again?"
Pocket did uncover a door to the end of that zigzag passageway when it scouted for its turn, and there's also the two doors down that passage south and then east, the one with the squeaking noises.
Which way or door specifically would you guys maybe want Peek to check?
"Peek never been in here before. You guys ok from wind monster? Peek never see it before."
"I feel a little winded after that fight, and the way I overloaded my cannon might come back to be a problem later," Cami says, not even acknowledging the pun she left in her words in any way. As she's picking up the trinkets that fell from her person off the ground, she continues, "... But I'm fine, or at least, I'll be fine."
Once she's done, she goes to answer the other topic Farok and Peek left her with. "Honestly, I don't know if I want to keep going this way... What if we find a Fire Elemental, then a Water Elemental? They'll only get harder as we waste more of our energy to dispatch each one."
"I... didn't think you'd believe me. There's no proof that there'll be more elementals going up ahead, and really, each one is so rare..." Cami stops talking when she realizes her rambling was amounting to nothing. "Maybe we do want to go back and focus on Fril's mission... There's just one thing. Pocket told me about something, and I wanted to check it."
Cami puts her goggles back on her face and starts walking on the same path Pocket had traveled before. The one where the Air Elemental came from. There were apparently things in a small room close to the door at the end of the zigzagging hallway.
Peek responds to Cami "Oh! Gosh! Yeah maybe fire, water, earth too! Yes, Peek want to save all goblin friends. But Peek listen to new parents. Peek do what Birdman tells Peek to do."
(in Math's absence, Cami and/or Farok can order Peek around and he will obey!)
Cami, when you go down that zigzag corridor and make it to the end in that room, you see lying on the floor a battered helm, a tattered suit of leather armor, two halves of a shattered wooden shield, a rusty longsword, a rotting quiver, several broken arrows, and a longbow with a snapped string.
Cami, you notice no magical auras through your goggles in that room or anywhere else when going down the hallway, but please make a perception check.
Anyone else who might've followed Cami into this room can make the same check.
Fril would have let out a relieved sigh as the elemental perished and would follow behind Cami as she walked down the winding corridor that the elemental came from. Looking to the others Fril shrugs and says, "I have as much of an idea of what is coming ahead as the rest of you. I think that freeing the goblins would be wise, but I think after that, we should come back in case there is something further in." Fril looks down at himself and over at Peek, "Besides, I feel mostly fine, and Peek looks-" he stops short as he notices Cami and Farok that were both much closer to the elemental during the assault. "Although, perhaps it would be best if we took a short break back in the room with all of the goblins keeping a lookout." He lands near Peek and uses the arrows that he picked up earlier to refill both Peek's and his own quiver while he waits for the other's input.
(OOC: I believe you fired 4 more arrows for Fril which put his quiver at 9. I'll subtract 11 from my pack to refill my quiver... but I'm not sure how many Peek fired... If you let me know how many arrows he has fired, I'll subtract those from my pack as well.)
“A rest already?”Farok asks, almost mockingly. “I would prefer to deal with your... son’s... problems.” Referring to Peek’s reference to them as ‘parents.’ “But if you feel the need...”
@DM - would my str come back from a short rest? Also, I could use a couple hit die, so that’s not a terrible idea. But I’m still at ~60% health, so not too bad yet.
((thanks again Pertuie - yup short rest would fix up Farok's STR in this case))
Ok I have updated the map.
Pocket, you can still take that second perception check for this room. Otherwise, nothing else is found in this room other than that door to the east and the armor etc.
Peek says "We take rest maybe Peek eat more of boss's food then we go help Peek's friends? Peek scared of that door over there."
Pocket remains quiet and still on her shoulder. Cami looks over and gives her opinion about what the others were saying. "I don't have the time to fix any of my things if we're taking a short break. Some of them take a lot of effort... I'm sure we could just use it to relax, of course, I'm not saying I don't want to do it."
Fril shrugs and looks at Cami and Farok. If they were both fine with continuing then he was too, but he wanted to put it out there. Looking at Peek he replies, "I agree with Farok. I think that we should go back and take out the rest of the outposts before we come back here and continue this way. Whether we rest or not beforehand is up to you two." As he says the last part he gestures back to Cami and Farok.
(OOC: This back and forth RP is confusing me a little (probably just because I am overthinking ya'll's posts) so I am going to be explicit OOC... Fril is voting no for a rest. If Cami and Farok want to take it, then we can totally do that, but Fril doesn't need it.)
(OOC: I subtracted the five arrows to refill Peek!)
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
“The mark of a successful DM is when you have caused more player deaths with doors than dragons, demons, or devils.”
Cami pulls her goggles above her forehead, while she tries to hide her dissatisfaction with their lack of discoveries. "Then let's just continue... Seems like no one cares to rest, so why do it? We could always do it later."
((Thanks Math! I've added back to his sheet. Looks like I wasn't subtracting each shot. Oops! He's back at the 20 now.))
"Yes! We shall go to last outpost. But friends, last outpost has lots more mean bugbears. Lots. Maybe more dangerous? Maybe other things too? This last outpost is main Xanathar guild base. Only the meanest. Um.... Peek just know where base is, Peek not let in base before. Peek sorry. Yes. We shall go. Follow Peek."
Peek explains the situation as well to all of those other goblins and that we would be back after we take care of the last outpost and free the other goblin friends. The other 6 goblins seem very excited about this and start to look at all of you like you are their saviors who has rescued them from the slavery of the BB's. They all get on their knees and bow and say thank you thank you thank you etc. in goblin.
Peek leads you all down a path from the second outpost down a diagonal corridor and then to an interesting room.
"This is funny map room. Lots of buttons to press. Peek never touch. Main Xanathar outpost through that secret.... OH! SOMEONE DOWN IN PIT!?"
Peek looks very confused.
So some initial info about this room that Peek has led you to without any initial rolls or inspection:
-There is a 30-foot-wide, floor-to-ceiling map carved into the west wall.
- In the middle of the room is a 10-foot-square open pit. Someone, or something, is in it and is moving around. "Uuggghhhhhhhhhh...." it hasn't noticed any of you yet...
- There is apparently a secret door in this room which leads to the main Xanathar outpost (the tunnel you can see on the map where Peek is) but Peek is very confused by what is going on in the pit.
"People never in pit?!"
What will you do? The thing in the pit will likely notice you in moments as it's only 10 ft deep.
