I would like to run a straightforward Ghosts of the Saltmarsh campaign. This is intended to be RP heavy, one line replies need not submit.
Character creation
Create your character in line with the story (sea/coastal based setting involving smugglers/pirates etc) the background/backstory should relate to why you are from that area or how you have ended up there, I'll leave it at that to see what everyone can come up. Characters must be level 1 and all official content is allowed. Standard array or point buy for stats. XP will be milestone based. Please no evil aligned characters.
Posting: I will expect at least one post a day. Please indicate on your application exactly when you would available to post in your local time eg 9-5 and your GMT zone eg GMT +2. Please do not use any other timezone formats as this will be ignored. If you are unsure which GMT zone you fall into a simple google search will reveal this. Please also indicate how often you will be able to post if its more than once a day. This is my first time using this forum to run PbP (not my first time running PbP) so if i have left anything out please reply with your questions.
Submit your character information including Name/Race/Class as well as backstory (which you want to acknowledge, if there are elements you dont want to reveal to the other players let me know privately).
If you would like to work with me on character creation thats cool too.
Ok was left in the streets of Saltmarsh as an infant by his mother. He was adopted by a notorious human hustler who had a habit of adopting future "prospects" of his profession. Growing up, his adopted father taught him to be the physical force of his little band, and to take the form of a large half-orc named "Oak." Ok has gotten so used to this form he is very rarely seen in his original changeling state. He also has a small string of contacts, including a fairly evil dwarf working as an entertainer around the city.
Brees is a troubled young man that lives in a wealthy family north of Waterdeep. He constantly gets into trouble and causes many headaches for his parents in their upper-social circles. After getting in too many bar brawls and scraps in Waterdeep, his parents decided to ship him to his older brother who lives in the outskirts of Saltmarsh across the sea. Their hope is that under his brother's watch and tutelage, Brees may learn some etiquette or how to work hard and NOT fight. His brother Nova, is quite a blue collar working man within the Loyalists. He never spent much time with his big brother but knows he's a real hard-ass; yet Brees can't seem to hide his excitement of charting the wide sea and getting into fun-er and better scraps with the sort of piratical individuals that await him in Saltmarsh.
In terms of availability I can definitely post several times a day without issue and my timezone is GMT -5 currently. Hope to hear back, thank you!
Name: Jannek Sil'lend Race: Half-Elf (mark of the storm) Class: Bard (later going college of swords for some piraty swashbuckling) Backstory: Jannek is dedicated to make the world a better place, fair and safe. That is why he joined the saltmarshian city guard. He did his job quite well and was chosen to go undercover to infiltrate a smuggler ring. There he met an interesting assortment of people, some of wich he actually became friends with. His ideals clashed when he realised that some of the smugglers had similar goals to him in mind, but they were limited in the ways on how to achieve them. He is currently struggling to juggle his responsibility and conscience. Timezone: MEZ
Name: Emmelot Moorbounder Race: Gold Dragonborn Class: Draconic Sorcerer Backstory: Emmelot has never understood how or why he was born with draconic powers, but he has made it his life's mission to answer that question. Scholars in all of the large cities laughed him away once they tested his intelligence, so he was sent to the fringes and that is where he found Saltmarsh. Although the libraries are not nearly as great as those in some of the larger cities, at least he had access to them and so he began his research to discover how he got his powers. While his barely adequate intelligence was a barrier to his ability to research, he was very dedicated to his work and he hoped that eventually it would pay off. Timezone: GMT-6 (Posting is probably between 3-5 times a day depending on my workload from school, but I'll let you know if I won't be able to post at least daily)
Hey, I have an idea for a Wild Magic Sorcerer character, but I want to know how you'd handle such a character. After all, it's a very DM dependant subclass and many people just ignore it or even ban it from their games.
Well, I'll create the character, for now, leaving the question open for later discussion.
Time: +02:00 GMT. I'm active most of the day, for now, as we're stuck in a lockdown. When we'll finally be out, I'll still be rather active, but not as much.
Fayne lived in a small port town. Fayne always dreamt of going out on an adventure, as any other child does. However, as almost any other, she got very disappointed when she realised... that's not going to happen. She lived like any other person, until about when she way 17. At that time, strange things began to happen around her. Many weird things, which were hard to connect. But eventually, it was obvious she's the cause. She began experimenting with it and slowly gained some level of control over her powers. Suddenly, the dream of becoming an adventurer is... maybe something she can achieve? Without too much thought, despite her family's disapproval, she left for Saltmarsh, in hope of starting her adventurous life there.
Name: Felix Race: Minotaur Class: Fighter Background: "Pirate" Backstory: Felix doesn't actually know his given name. "Felix" was the name given to him by the slavers that captured him as a calf. He grew up as a slave having been sold to one of the pirate kings when he was very young. He was raised by the pirates to be a fighter, to work as a marine and boarding crew for the pirates. His socialization was strange, as he had an odd relationship with the pirates and with the other slaves. He was often locked in chains when they came near a civilized port, and that was how he was found when the power of the pirate kings' power was broken, and his ship was captured. He was freed by the marines of Seaton, but told, in no uncertain terms, that he wasn't welcome to settle there. He found his way to Saltmarsh, in an attempt to make a way for himself where he was, if not welcome, at least tolerated.
Name: Flame Race: Fire Genasi Class: Wizard (Will be Abjuration wizard in future)
Backstory:
Born as a child of fire elemental, somehow Flame always ended up cold or wet or both. This time he took a job as a ship wizard. It seemed an easy and good job ……at first. But surprise! The honest merchant who employed Flame was a pirates captain! The whole crew of the ship is criminals! And they are terrible ones. Instead of rich merchant ship, they run straight into a giant storm! Flame barely got in the escape boat thanks for his charm and Sleep spell. Now being washed up on the coast of Saltmarsh, Flame is wet and cold with octopus crawling on his face but no money. Again no money! He must find something to turn tide and escape from this bad luck.
Backstory: Born on a small island off the coast Splinter has been aboard ships all his life. There is no role or post on a ship that he has not tried and joy better than a hard days work at sea. On a long voyage a great storm sunk the vessel he was aboard. He would have died out there but the lord of the storms and seas had other plans with another ship stuck in the storm that save him. From that day forward he is unmoved by the seas wrath and save as many as he can in the storm lords name!
Kulogall is viewed as a "lucky charm" to any crew that will hire him. Captains have said that he has the ability to bring the wind and may have powers to calm storms, lift fog, so he is a sought after boatswain. Kulogall wants to learn more about humans and sea faring folk, he has an interest in human affairs and trying to help those he comes in contact with. He has a rather aloof demeanor, looks at those around him like he is studying a bug under a microscope. He has an innate ability with the elements apparently, he does not know how, but he has a growing mastery over wind and water.
Kulogall is interested to learn more about Saltmarsh and its people, what drives them and how he can help. More details of his background to be fleshed out as it comes.
@DM : Any story hooks that you can think of to tie in backstory to the campaign? I like the idea of a storm sorcerer that uses his skills to aid a ship crew, control weather, wind, etc. However, I do see other magic users posted here, I can post a second character if allowed, more of a fighter class or rogue if that would help. I would like to be a part of this campaign!
Updated character sheet based on some of my other choices, rolls.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Hi All
The thread is not recruiting any longer, I will read through the newer selections to confirm players and then we will be able to start the game!
