"We will continue to collect more coins to restore you to your power so that you may defeat the evil here."Komos says looking ahead and behind them on the road to ensure there are no other enemies in view.
Seeing how much faith her followers have in her, Tiamat goes quiet for a bit. While her black and white heads continue to stay alert, she couldn't bring herself to look the Kobolds in the eye with the remaining threeheads. In a low voice, she says, "It feels strange. For the longest time I'd thought that I was among the strongest beings in all of existence, rivaled only by my brother and a few of the more powerful gods. I thought that if I were to break free from the prison the gods had put me in and manifest, not as an avatar but in all my godlike glory, there would be no one able to stop me and my followers from claiming back the material plane; that I could fight the gods that stole the world from the dragons; that I could win back my brother to my side... That I could do anything. Yet, when I first felt the presence of the Golden Emperor through the gate, a sickening realization dawned on me. I realized for the first time in my life that I am not all-powerful; that I don't know everything and that I am but one puny goddess stuck in my own reality among uncountable deities all ruling their own worlds; that there are deities capable of consuming entire realities into their domain; that in the grand scheme of existence, I really know very little. It's... not just that the Emperor in its full power is stronger than I. It's that his existence, raises so many questions. I am afraid of the answers of these questions. It was... a humbling feeling. Is this how you mortals feel everyday? To live knowing that you are insignificant compared to so many other beings far more powerful than you and hailing from planes that you may never know? Is this what it feels to be mortal?"
Skarro looks up, then hurriedly looks away again, both averting his gaze and wary for prying eyes.
"Skarro serves his goddess and protects the other Children of the Dragon." He frowns at some memory, speaking for a moment in quieter tones, "Though sometimes they hurt Skarro, he still defends them. It is his way."
He is clearly not used to considering the meaning of life, nor dealing with the existential crises of others -- let alone a god -- but he does his best to do his duty and answer his goddess. "There is only one goddess, but there are many children. Not all brave like Skarro. What Skarro does is important because it saves his kin and it pleases the goddess." He smiles, having apparently found a solution to the problem.
After a moment he nods in satisfaction, then adds "If what Skarro does is significant, then what the goddess does is even bigger, because it inspires all of her children, even the cowards who hurt Skarro. Skarro might die tomorrow, but he will die knowing that he lived well."
Zorn shrugs. "Zorn believe in his goddess." He says simply, bowing his head to Tiamat. "Zorn follow where you wish Zorn go." He is clearly not a big thinker and all of this self-questioning is beyond his mental capacity.
Tiamat listens quietly to the words of the Kobolds. There is a strange expression on her face. Gratitude? She says, "Thank you. I am not strong enough to fight the Emperor if he gains his full power here. That is why there is still hope to stop him if we can close the source of this corruption before he can do that. I will do my best to become the goddess that you see in me. I will do my best to make my followers proud. For now... would you like to rest here? I can stand watch while you sleep."
Skarro nods, "Briefly." He says. He had been hoping for a brief respite to recover his strength, and now -- before trying to cross the wall -- seemed like a good time. Without looking up he asks, "The eyes are everywhere, how are we to avoid them?"
Tiamat advises, "The eyes are many and they can see through illusions and disguises. It is neigh impossible to avoid them. What you must do is to blend into the forests. Use the trees, the shrubs, the mud to hide in plain sight. The eyes will see you. You must make sure it doesn't recognize you as what you are."
"Zorn Thank mistress." Zorn says when Tiamat offers to watch while they rest. He sees it as more of an order than an offer though, so immediately pulls out his bedroll and settles down on it, attempting to rest.
As they try to rest, Skarro has difficulty finding a comfortable spot. He does not want to turn his back on his goddess but neither does he want to face her. Eventually he settles with his back to the wall, facing back down the path from which they came, studiously avoiding her gaze.
But still rest does not come. He can be heard arguing with himself, growling and hissing, and occasionally stealing glances at Tiamat. After a final heated debate he says loudly, "Skarro does not like to hide. Skarro wants to kill Hunter. But Skarro will hide if she says he must." With the last statement he finally manages to bring his eyes to meet those of his goddess, a strange mixture of fear, defiance and pleading in equal measure.
((Does Varn and Komos and Zorn want a Short Rest or a Long Rest?))
Tiamat turns her center red dragon head to Skarro. Thinking a bit she says, "Killing the Hunter? I suppose it would be a humane thing to do. These monsters were all people once and I cannot imagine the Hunter's current twisted existence to be something desirable. Killing the Hunter will not be easy. It has a very potent camouflage and it blends into the background. It watches the entire forest with its many eyes. To kill it, you must first find it without it spotting you. Its movement is sluggish but if it spots you, it will continue to shoot at you from far away. Killing the Hunter would bare rewards in the form of these coins."
Skarro looks at his companions, clearly wondering what they are willing to do while trying to decide what the best course might be. He is not naturally stealthy. He nods slowly, "And how far would it be before we escaped the hunter's domain? Sneaking is not Skarro's way."
"Zorn help hide." Zorn says as he looks up from his bedroll. "Zorn have magic help..." Zorn can cast Pass without Trace
Zorn will take as long of a rest as Tiamat allows them. She has ordered them to rest while she watches; he trusts her to tell them when that time is over. He does not need a long rest at this time, but would not go against Tiamat's wishes if she wanted them to take one.
Komos is happy to sit and rest, tinkering with his tools, for as long as the others take. Looking to Skarro and to the Lady adds, "If we do not kill the hunter we will be constantly tracked... Zorn can keep us hidden... shall we try to find this fiend?"
Skarro puffs up his chest and nods, "Skarro thinks so."
He bows his head, once again unable to look at Tiamat, "If we kill all the eyes, will the Hunter still see us? Or will there always be more stinking eyes?"
Tiamat responds, "If you destroy the eyes, the Hunter will know you are there but they will also not be able to see you. It might be worth a try. Should you try and fail to kill the eyes though, that would be troublesome. As for finding the fiend... I am not sure where exactly the Hunter is, Though given the nature of the creature, where the forest's corruption seems the strongest, is where you are likely to find it. Do you know about the old goblin cave that was in the forest? I think this part of the corruption is strongest there. I don't know if it still is a cave or if it has transformed into something else entirely but that is where you might find the Hunter. I wish you all good luck."

Skarro counts his coins, and glances at his companions. "Skarro is a fool. He should have collected more coins. Will not make same mistake again."
His eyes travel to his companions, he is too reluctant to ask the obvious question.
"We will continue to collect more coins to restore you to your power so that you may defeat the evil here." Komos says looking ahead and behind them on the road to ensure there are no other enemies in view.
