(( If we are going to the forest, I'd vote for a rest that puts us in darkness...if that's possible. Skarro can target theye eyes at 120 and they MAY not be able to see him ))
Zorn is good with either, so leaving it up to anyone who requires more healing. As stated though, if we can get a rest that puts the timetable as us moving on in darkness, that would benefit the group, so let's shoot for that if it works. Remember Zorn will cast pass without trace, so we all can add 10 to our stealth rolls.
Varn will take a rest as long as the others do. If anyone takes a long rest, so will he. Otherwise, a short one, to tend to his wound from being dragged around.
Under the watch of the goddess, the party takes a rest until it is dark. When they wake, the sky seems... odd. There are no stars, no moon. It looks like a simple void. There is a very dim light from the sky itself yet no clear source of the light, such as a moon or a star, can be seen. Tiamat asks, "Now that you have rested and it has turned dark, I take it that you will go to fight the Hunter? Success or failure, your survival is of utmost importance for the survival of the material plane. Do you need me to wait for you to return here?"
Skarro stares at the forest a moment. "We must go through the forest reach the end of the wall. We should meet at the place where it ends when we have killed the hunter."
Though he would never admit it, Skarro was overwhelmed by the situation. He had only expected to meet his goddess when he died -- when he had proven himself worthy. Now...this early in his life...he was still on destinies path, and that path was now much less clear than it once was. Or much more clear, he was not sure.
Whatever the path, it now seemed much shorter than it once did.
(( Is this the plan: Move off with "Pass without Trace" running, everyone on the look out for eyes. Skarro uses Eldritch Blast on them from cover at 120'...hopefully they don't have 120' vision in darkness (if we are lucky)...and we head toward the cave by a slightly curving route to avoid our destination being immediately obvious ?? ))
Skarro puffs up his chest and eyes Komos, "All kobolds more able than they know. The whole world will know this when we succeed. Maybe then, kobolds will believe as well."
He looks over to the others, hissing and baring his teeth, "Today is the Day of the Kobold, comrades." He pauses a moment, frowning. "Tomorrow as well. As long as it takes."
Using the darkness, the party moves deeper into the forest. The corruption becomes more apparent the further that the party travels. The trees begin showing white of large fungal growth. Some of these growths are the size of entire branches. The party can't see the vines and the eyes yet they can feel the presence of the Hunter watching them. They manage to remain undetected by trying to blend in to the scenery rather than trying to stay out of sight.
Soon they reach a large tree. The tree has two of these eyes that the Kobolds can see. These eyes scan the area for prey. Under the tree is what looks like a walking bloated corpse in metal armor. It's as if a man's body grew rapidly and uncontrolled while he was still in armor, fusing the metal to his flesh. The malformed guard walks around the tree, patrolling the area. The guard itself seems blind.
From the dark forest that surrounds this place, the party can feel the presence of additional eyes though they can't see them. The way the eyes on the tree itself is scanning the area and not focusing on the party's direction, says that the other eyes haven't identified the kobolds as prey yet.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
@DM: 1. Am I correct in assuming that we are not at the cave yet, and therefor this is likely NOT the hunter? 2. we 'sense' other eyes; do we have any idea how many or where? 3, Can we see a way to bypass this guy?
1. That is correct. You are not at the cave yet and therefore this person is not the Hunter. 2. You sense them in the sense that you feel like you're being watched. You can't see the other eyes and have no idea how many there are. However since the Hunter has not recognized you yet, as long as you don't stay out of hiding for too long you should be fine. Also if you take out the eyes that you can see before those eyes look directly at you, the other eyes should have trouble finding you again. 3. Seeing as this guy is blind, you can possibly just walk around him. Though if you try to do that, the two eyes in the tree will spot you.
Skarro's eyes narrow. He does not like fleeing a fight, but this one is not the one he planned.
He whispers to his companions. "We pull out his cursed evil eyes. But then, do we fight, or..." he has difficulty saying the word, his lips seeming to pucker as he does so, "...run."
((So did you guys take a short rest or a long rest?))

Skarro will rest until the light begins to fade, then start to ready himself.
((What about Varn and Komos?))
Komos is happy to sit around and tinker for as long as the others need to.

"You've always been more able than I." Komos says to Skarro. "But I'll follow you and help how I can. Let us find this hunter."

"We must not fail."
Tiamat takes off to wait the party near where the big wall ends, after the Hunter has been dealt with.
Roll Stealth to try and sneak deeper into the forest. Be sure to add +10 to it from Pass Without Trace.
