He must save or take 24 Necrotic Damage. The assault on his mind and body continues, dealing him 4 Psychic/4 Poison and he begins having visions of dark entities from beyond the stars offering him unimaginable power.

Rothander is struck again by Parabolus's freezing armor for 20 Cold. Parabo then retaliates with two more strikes of his sword. Attack: 22 Damage: 20, Attack: 19 Damage: 17. The headaches and bug bites worsen.

Rothander swings into the cloud of insects, but doesn't land a hit.
Parabolus retaliates and beats against the dwarven armor, as the swarm and the screams wear on Rothander. (Side note: I'd ask to contest with Persuasion or Insight)
Rothander retorts and lands a blow, but Parabolus' chilling armor has been reformed, ans the ice explodes piercing Rothander's flesh. As Parabolus lands another blow and his assault continues in the swarm, Rothander collapses under his attacks.

As Basil enters the arena to present the winner, Truth clears away the swarm from a distance using a gust of magical wind. Medics carry away the stout dwarf to the HMO. Rothander's wakes some time later with 7000 more xp and 1680 more gold.
Parabolus is taken below. He's won a prize of 4200 gold and 14000 experience to advance to level-9. He's taken to the prize room to select the next tool for his nefarious purposes. Inside...
Tier 1:
"Take any one item. We're well equipped." The room contains every item from Chapter 5 of the Player's Handbook weighing 70 pounds or less, armor of varying sizes, instruments, tool kits. There are also spell scrolls, every first level spell is present (as well as spell scrolls of a level for which a magic user of the characters new level would have slots for), and an encyclopedia of knowledge. Reading these books will grant you proficiency with any one tool kit or any one language, depending which book you choose. The books are magically infused to allow easy retention, but the magic is lost once used.
Upper Tier:
The victor may choose instead, an item from a magically infused chest that summons 10 randomly selected magic items to choose from (rarity determined by level). Alternatively they may exchange a magic item for another item of their choosing of the same rarity or lower, if the administrator has the requested item in his extensive collection. "You name it, we've probably got one somewhere."
The next match will feature any interested level-2 competitors. The match will begin in about 24 hours.
To win... 1... King of the Hill. A single flag (¥) in the center of the map will be available to capture in the third round. Remain within 10 feet, while holding your opponents away for 5 rounds to win.
The time: 2, Dusk. In the dim failing light, the shadows of the arena grow long. Checks relying on sight will suffer disadvantage without Darkvision.
Powerful magicians sweep through the arena creating a spectacle of magical skill. The create structures and paths, plants and trees and grass. The result is a peaceful rural village with a cobblestone road passing through the center. Two of the buildings have a second level for an elevated position.

He enters the prize rooms and comes out with some finely crafted half-plate armor. He plans to improve its aesthetics by performing an ancient ritual in the woods. But first he will try to sell his old half plate to Rothander when he wakes up.
(Wait, hold on. How did Parab have his super advantage if he was also concentrating on the spiders? Darkness is also a concentration spell.)
