Among the trash and debris you see a magnificently beautiful and radiant necklace. The holy symbol is a platinum amulet shaped like the sun, with a large crystal embedded in its center. When you pick it up, it is warm like the sun, and it's weighty in your palm.
For an instant, you receive a vision, a flashback, so real you think you are there. You witness a paladin named Lugdana receiving the necklace by a giant angel in the form of an enormous raven. You witness Lugdana using the holy symbol to root out and destroy nests of vampires until her death. The you see the high priests of Ravenloft keeping and wearing the holy symbol after Lugdana’s passing. Then, shadow of Strahd and darkness, and an abbey, a large radiant being of pure light embraced by pure evil desecrating the abbey, and the Holy Symbol lost. Blood, death, and despair.
"Be the light in the darkness, destroy the shadow. I will help you rid the land of the darkness." You hear something say.
You have found the Holy Symbol of Ravenkind.
The holy symbol has 10 charges for the following properties. It regains 1d6 + 4 charges daily at dawn.
Hold Vampires. As an action, you can expend 1 charge and present the holy symbol to make it flare with holy power. Vampires and vampire spawn within 30 feet of the holy symbol when it flares must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, a target is paralyzed for 1 minute. It can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns to end the effect on itself.
Turn Undead. If you have the Turn Undead or the Turn the Unholy feature, you can expend 3 charges when you present the holy symbol while using that feature. When you do so, undead have disadvantage on their saving throws against the effect.
Sunlight. As an action, you can expend 5 charges while presenting the holy symbol to make it shed bright light in a 30-foot radius and dim light for an additional 30 feet. The light is sunlight and lasts for 10 minutes or until you end the effect (no action required).
A horrible organic sound slowly grows - like a growl - and suddenly, swiftly, the door slams shut and you can hear people, your friends, outside of it, banging on the door. The walls become red, deep red, and start to twist and convulse, transform, into soft organic bodily tissue. The tissue wets and throbs and twitches as it's alive and you are boxed in - there's no way out of the room. Giant intestine-like tentacles erupt from the organic floor spraying bile and blood everywhere and tightly wrap around you and you struggle to break free.
"MASTER! THEY HAVE FOUND THE HOLY SYMBOL!" a thousand voices scream in unison as you rapidly sink into the floor.
(Sorry, jist moved over to nights so I'm asleep for the mid- and late-morning.)
Grishkar is intrigued by a room so permeated with death, but the radiating ambiance of the holy symbol leaves a bad taste that keeps him at the door.

“Good luck! We already handled one Undead monstrosity, you won’t be any different! Hyaaaah!” Martha roars as light burns in her eyes and she enters a Rage. Pushing even further beyond, her habit flies backward as her hair flows free and glows with intense light as she activates Radiant Consumption! “I don’t even need to grab you! You’re stuck with me!” All creatures within 10 feet take 3 Radiant Damage and Martha takes 1.
OOC: That was an action and bonus action, if you still want a Str check: 16, but if not, I’ll just need to break out next turn
Seeing that Imryll miserably fails the strength check (14), she casts the "Silence" spell, centered in the room.
For the duration, no sound can be created within or pass through a 20-foot-radius sphere centered on a point you choose within range. Any creature or object entirely inside the sphere is immune to thunder damage, and creatures are deafened while entirely inside it. Casting a spell that includes a verbal component is impossible there.
Martha shudders at sounds of the infants, “I really, really hate this place.” And will help Imyrll look. Investigation: 13!

Yes, they will not enter the room. Too creepy.

Finally, who went into the room? Just Imryll and Martha I assume? Since they posted?
For sake of this encounter I will say just those two at the moment? Don't all just dogpile up in there =P
Martha raises up Imyrll’s hand with the symbol, “Hey! We found it! This thing seems pretty cool, it can paralyze vampires!”

Bors is in there too.
Ok, if you haven't spoken up by now, you're "outside". Will continue the story shortly.
OOC: I assume we give the amulet to Bors, since it appears to be made for Paladins?
Last to know and first to be blamed...
As a free action, can I regret my life choices?
OOC: Clerics, I think. Only Oath of Ancients Paladins have turn the unholy iirc.
