((We were told that Floon and Renger frequent this warehouse? Does looking at the warehouse suggest why one would frequent it? Does it look like a front for a after hours bar, a rave, or something else? Generally people doesn't frequent warehouses unless they're in shipping or delivery? Maybe import/export? Just trying to get a sense of what type of warehouse this is...))
Gorm suggests that we stake the place out a bit to get a sense of it. "There is no need to rush right in when we don't even know if it's connected. It could be a normal business that we're suddenly breaking into. Or it could be a gang hideout where we're suddenly outnumbered ten to one. Jeremiah is right, we need to know the various ways in and out... We also need to know what we're getting into..."
"Perhaps the bartender meant that the 5 thugs who followed F&R frequent this 'warehouse'. If this is a Zhentarim hangout, this is no honest business." Violet whispers from the shadows.
If Violet is able to maintain her nat 20 on stealth, she will try Jeremiah's suggestion and attempt to move around all sides of the building, looking for alternate entrances/exit, any views inside through windows, guards posted, ways to climb to the roof, etc.
Gorm takes his first good look at Guardian and is a bit... something. He'd seen the like before but not up close.
"Why don't you just find a dark shadow to wait in?" Gorm suggests. "If there is fighting you can run into the center of it... But maybe there won't be any if we're subtle?"
"Very well, how long do I wait if you do not return? Is there a signal you can give if you end up in trouble out of my sight?" Guardian asks as he looks around for a place to conceal himself.
(As a note, my bad on how I wrote it but the thugs visited this warehouse, not Floon or Renaer))
Violet - The book Volo wrote is Volo's guide to Monsters. No one here has seen Floon or Renaer since. There also were no visible tattoos on the toughs. The symbol on the door is fairly similar to the ones you saw earlier.
You all pause and take a look at the building and notice no sign of people watching you. There is a main door in front of you as well as two windows onto the street that have been boarded up. Glancing around the building there appears to be a lower level that opens out to a yard on the other side of the building, you imagine there are doors down there. The building sticks out over a small patio blocking sight to any doors down there. (DC 10 acrobatics to climb down, if you climb down read the spoiler below).
If you fail the check you make it down but you make a loud racket. The yard has a large warehouse door, a small door next to it, and a window into a large storage room.
Violet, you see tables and chairs that have been carelessly tossed around the floor, the corpses of a dozen men lie along the walls, their rapiers and daggers lying nearby. On the north side of the area, stairs rise to an open level above. Four short, avian creatures with long beaks and black feathers are moving around the room keeping an eye out. You carefully move to avoid being seen as they glance in your direction as they patrol.
Jeremiah keeps back from the window while Violet carries out her reconnaissance, and softly breathes over a shimmering crystal, speaking some quiet words and making some small gestures.
(He has cast Mage Armor on himself, feeling a little nervous after the flying bloodsuckers earlier)
Gorm is still basically out front, trying to remain unseen, so has no clue anything is going on. He's just watching to see if there are comings or goings from this angle and waiting to see what the others report...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"You weren't kidding about nasty!" Violet whispers to Jeremiah.
"Do you want to stay hidden here or come with me to go get the others? I'd rather face the flying leeches than knock on the front door after seeing this!"
Violet would like to climb back up out of sight of the creatures inside, try to secure her rope somewhere up top so there's an easier way up and down for all, and then stealth off to report to the others.
Violet you easily sneak away. Jeremiah, you occasionally hear the creatures moving but they are staying quiet and seem to be keeping watch for anyone who tries to enter the building. Gorm, the street is empty. You get the feeling that this isn't a part of town people wander around in for fun.
"Guys!" Violet whispers to G&G, "There's a back door, and just inside are a dozen dead bodies, and four bird-things that look like the ones that came out of the pit in the tavern (I think?). What if one of those dead bodies is the guy we're looking for? Wanna check it out? Follow me!"

Guardian looks at Gorm. "I will fail at sneaking around, you must tell me where you want me to be, the best place for me to protect you all."

"Listen for shouting and screaming? Though I don't think we plan on entering quite yet... scoping the place out a bit first I think?"

(lol Volo's guide to Monsters of course!)
Hopefully curiosity won't... get Violet in trouble again...

Phew, she just barely lands on her feet.

"Quick lesson, Guardian... When a lady says follow:" Gorm says, "You follow." Gorm takes his own advice.
