Lostur nearly loses his balance turning around and looking excitedly at his new tail. It sweeps majestically over the floor, and after a few moments, he regains his balance, a huge grin on his face. "Lord Balorian! You're the very best!" he cheers, unable to contain his excitement.
"Master, I could not think to ask of a boon for myself. I will go out and search my happiness and freedom outside these walls by for-filling my duty to you and Bahamut. I will search our kin and try and bring us back to glory!"
(( I don't think Brenvull would ask for anything to better himself. But he would like a boon that would allow him to serve better (thing I could think of are: Wisdom improvement for better spell casting, or some kind of magic item that might help him find other dragonborn and convince him to join the cause ))
The light blinds Lorvax's eyes, as it begins to take shape he slumps to his knees in reverence. "M-my Lord,"he stutters, "You trusted me with your protection and I failed you." Lorvax blinks away tears, unable to meet the gaze of Balorian.
"The only 'boon' I would ask for is the ability to redeem myself, to atone for my past failures, and to see our people return to prominence once more." He looks up imploringly,"If there are any means by which I can achieve these goals, I would be most welcoming of any boon granted."
((Similarly to Brenvull, I think Lorvax would accept any boons granted which would help him better serve the cause / his goals outlined above.))
Brenvull, Balorian bows his head in respect and you feel a welling up of emotion within your chest, like a budding flower bursting into bloom. With a sudden surge of exhilaration you throw your head back as light and power pour forth from your mouth in a gout of crystal white flame. (You now have the evangelist feat, enjoy)
Lorvax there is a moments silence before the spirit moves closer and places his head against your broad chest. He then rises and orders you to hold out your hand. As you comply you see a single tear rolling down his cheek. It falls into you hand but does not disperse. Instead it gathers into a single white pearl. You feel warm energy spread out from the pearl into your hand and up your arm until it infuses your whole body.
"You have not failed me..." Balorian breathes, "Never think that... but the gift I give you now will enable you to redeem your damaged soul. To move quickly to act and to undo the mistakes of the moment. Use it wisely." (You now have redemption's boon as a feat. Have fun).
Kray you have no words to express what you feel in this moment; humbled as you are by the presence of your master and the god you both serve. Balorian respects your silence and gently bows toward you. As he does this your armour and shield begin to glow from within until you are almost too bright to look upon. When the light at last fades your chain mail and shield feel different somehow and you feel more powerful and protected by them. (Your Chain has been upgraded to +2 and your mundane shield has become a Sentinel shield with a Dragons Eye emblazoned on the front.
"Now as my final gift." Balorian says as he rears to his full height and for a split second it is as if he were truly alive once more; his body whole and strong. He looks down at you all and breaths his last, filling the chamber with ethereal white flame that consumes you all in a world of white mist. It is as if you are all floating there in the bright void; your senses become overwhelmed and time looses all meaning.
At last you hear the word "Wake." as if from close behind and your eyes snap open to find the hall empty once more. Balorian has disappeared.
(You have all benefitted from a long rest and now stand in the newly consecrated temple before the entrance to the Twilight Tower and your freedom beyond.)
Overcome with both joy for being able to see and speak to her Lord and humility for being in his presence again Kraytrhanax finally finds her voice,
"Thank you Mylord. I wouldn't ask anything more than be able to protect my brothers and carry on your message of a brighter future for our kind. " she says to him before Balorian dissapears again.
With still tears in her eyes she walks towards the entrance to the Twilight Tower.
Feeling the power surge through his soul, Lorvax looks up wide-eyed at Balorian, his hope renewed."My Lord - I shall do as you say.", he says, standing tall.
Lorvax looks over to Kray, as she boldly moves towards the tower, he flexes his muscles a little. "Now is as good a time as any!"he roars, jogging to catch up.
All take level 6 as you approach the wide golden door to the tower!
The great door open easily and without a sound. As they open lights ignite in the hallway beyond, triggered by some invisible magic that was once common throughout the citadel. This hallway is covered in a mosaic of colourful tiles that form intricate, arcane patterns. Bronze sconces set into the walls hold dancing flames, no torches or fuel to be seen. To the east and west are single doors of carved wood with another pair of bronze doors at the end of the hall.
Brenvull you feel strange being here at the entrance of the Twilight Tower. This was once the accommodation of the High Priest of Bahamut and in ages gone by your presence here would have been forbidden. You can only suppose the towers occupant is long dead. You are here with the blessing of Balorian. However, you can not help but feel like you are trespassing.
Kray closes her eyes and concentrates, smelling the air trying to detect the stench of the evil. She is worried that the devils have entered the Golden Tower too.
Kray you take a moment as the various scents of this ancient building swirl around your senses and then it hits you like a mountain slide. The distinct sense of a powerful fiend through the double bronze doors ahead. To the left or the right you sense nothing but ancient air and dust.
Lostur scratches his head. "So what are we supposed to do now? Get out and find the ancestors of the humans who did this to us and kill 'em all? I feel a little weird about that. Never was much one for making the kids pay for the parents' sins, even though this is a crappy deal we all got here," he mutters. He shoulders his weapon and looks to the others for guidance, new tail waving eagerly.
Kray stops and raises her arms to block the way to the rest.
She opnes her eyes and looks directly towards the double bronze doors. In low voice she says.
"It's not over yet my brothers. I can smell the stench of a powerful fiend right behind the main doors. We still have work to do here."
Picking up the shield the sword she replies to Lostur nonetheless.
"And about that, I do not seek revenge on the descendants of the ones who started this. That's not our Lord way. I would say that we keep our heads down and learn how the world works today. For what we know the descendants of the ones who attacked us are long dead and their power long lost too. But before that, we have a fiend to deal with.."
Before continueing on Brenvull holds back everyone. "This next room was not for us in the days ago. It is where the High Priest resided." He takes a breath and stills himself for a moment. "I guess he would be long gone by now, and Bahamut has blessed us through Lord Balorian. Let us continue on."
"I agree Lostur. Holding petty grudges against people long dead is not our way. And as Kray says, we do not know if those people are in any way still in power. I feel we should clear out this place of whatever evil resided here. Then we should venture out into the world, see if any of our kin is still alive out there, and if so, maybe we could start anew in this place. A safe haven for our kin."
(( Do we suspect any (full dragon) descendants of Balorian out in the world that we could recruit for a potential new civilization (if so, Brenvull would definitely propose to seek them out) ))
Brenvull you know that Balorian fathered one clutch with his mate Immoreth. It was a day of great celebration in the citadel when they hatched. There were seven eggs in total, five male and two female. (Roll a history check to remember more).
The three door remain unopened. Single doors to the left and right and the double doors ahead through which Kray senses a fiendish presence.
"I believe we are of the same mind on this,"Lorvax agrees with Brenvull. "Our primary aim should be to locate and assist any of our remaining kin," he scratches absent-mindedly at his chin, "That being said, I would know the identities of those who conspired against us; perhaps learn of their motivations behind the attack."
"I agree Lorvax" Brenvull says "If there is anything left of those foul creatures we should rid the world of them. But for now let's focus on the fiend Kray sensed behind this door."
Brenvull prepares himself to be ready to face what's behind the door. Just before the door opens he will cast bless on Lorvax, Lostur and Kray.
(( @dreamhobbit: Did the flash long rest also give the ability to switch spells (normally that can be done at dawn) ))
Kray unsheathes her sword and it shines with a silvery light before the flames cover its edge. This time they were silvery flames, instead of the usual red ones.
"Let's clean this place my brothers... we have nothing to fear for our Lord blessing is with us. Are you ready?"
When they all nods Kray kicks the door open and she steps inside ready to face the fiendish presence she has felt before.
(She cast |spell]heroism[/spell] at lvl 2 on Brenvull and Lorvax. She uses her Sacred weapon and light the flame-sword. )
Lostur crunches his fists together. As he does so, a crackling is heard, and burst of ice rises up from his fists, turning into frost that creeps rapidly over his arms, head, and even his newly grown tail. Shaking himself, the ice splinters and cracks off. He grins. "Ready to rumble," he grunts.
(Absolutely you can choose spells, it was a legit long rest).
Brenvull you whisper a silent prayer as you lay your blessing on the others and you all stand ready for battle as Kray smashes the bronze doors open wide with a heavy kick. The chamber beyond is now revealed. Four lit braziers sit in the corners of the room. The floor is dominated by a symbol carved into the stone and filled with precious metals and stones. The symbol is a six-pointed star bound by a circle.
The circle gives off flickers of light, faintly silhouetting the massive form that crouches in its centre. A lectern stands beyond the circle flanked by chests. A large book bound in scaly leather sits open on the lectern. As the doors swing open the creature within the circle stirs. Glowing red eyes study you all with interest but the fiend makes no move to attack.
Lostur looks to the circle, and then to the fiend, confused and irritated by the lack of bloodshed. „So are you trapped in there or what?“ he asks the fiend in Abyssal.
