"Just like you can't talk your way out of every one, either. So I'm glad you're with us. Same with Luther's soon-to-be chilly arrows, Zephyra's patching-up skills, and Thariv's coral fetish." Ufeza says with a wry smile.
Zephyra strolls on the roof of the briefly before finding a spot to curl up in, one where her shape will not cause her to fall off as she reverts back. Considering the vantage, she gazes down upon the town and survey for anything unusual.
While you get to know each other, Liam raises his tankard "a toast to the braves that helped us in our hour of need!" the few patrons still at the inn raise their mugs to you. You can see relief in their faces and a glint of hope in their eyes. The inkeeper makes sure to refill your glasses during the night and quietly nods at Zephyra as she goes to her room in the upper floor.
Eventually you decide it's time to rest and go to your own rooms. Night passes uneventfully, the clouds part for a moment letting the crescent moon shine over the town and forest. But as the sun starts to rise, clouds cover the sky again. The inn has cold cheese and ham for breakfast, which you enjoy with no interruption as the locals are already going out to work.
Finding the market is easy during the morning. There are a couple general stores near the town square offering general goods. And a smith and an armorer on opposite sides of the main road showing their goods over canvas covers to keep them out of the rain.
You make the purchases you consider necessary, spending part of the reward you just got, and stop for a quick bite near noon. From your talk with Liam last night, there is no sense of urgency in getting to the great tree in the forest, but you don't want to overextend your welcome in town.
Zephyra spends the early morning in prayer and peace as it fades into the background to give the sun its time to shine. She slips down into her room again, using the basin to wash up and returns downstairs and out the door to shop. She spends all of her funds in the town, attempting to help them recover some from their losses and getting to know some of the people. By late morning she's returned to the Inn with Furrball to seat herself again at the edge of the room near a window, back to the wall, facing the room sharing tiny bits with the cat on her lap trying to eat as a normal creature.
Absently she runs her finger over a crack in the table slowly as if admiring the grain of the wood, sealing it closed with mending as she nibbles on some cold ham and cheese. Tucking a couple pieces in her pocket for later as a good fresh cheese is a gift from Selune herself.
She watches the people in the room move about their daily activities trying to get used to the rhythm of their daily life, searching for a comfortable to place her mind. She smiles and looks up as one of the group comes in, glad to see a more familiar face. "Good morning to you!" She greets as they come to the table.
Ufeza smiles in greeting, "Good morning, Zephyra. May I join you?" Without waiting for an answer he takes a seat and motions for some breakfast. He passed an uneventful night once the group retired to their rooms. Reading from some of the books in his pack and making sure his fur is groomed. Waking up rested, he came down to the common area to find Zephyra at a table.
"It was pleasant. I spent some time under the crescent moon admiring her beauty and the peace that's returned somewhat to the area. Got but a glimpse of the sun as morning broke, but I do adore the rain. There's something about the air after a fresh rain that nothing can replace."
Zephyra seems thoughtful a moment, "How do Tabaxi like the rain?" Thinking of how the cats she's known seem to avoid water whenever possible.
"While I'm sure that it varies among Tabaxi as widely as the other mortal races, I have a love hate relationship with it. I love the drama it adds to life, the beauty it brings to the world, and how it sustains life. I am not a fan, however, of how it makes my fur smell, or the mud it creates. It can rain all it wants when I'm indoors, but I do prefer my travels to be dry."
Luther comes bounding down the stairs of the inn and scoops up a fist of breakfast as he sits in one motion. His natural fitness and relative youth mean that he can shrug off the worst of a night on the ale, although his hunger and craving for salty foods shows that he has not fully escaped the celebration unscathed.
"I'm going to head into town early to trade some goods; sell a sword to make space, pick up a shield and more arrows" says the archer with a mouthful of cheese and meat. He leans down to pick up the meowing Truffles, scratching the chubby cat behind it ears.
After spending the morning shopping around you return to the inn for lunch. A young boy approaches you and gives you a parchment "my lady Lerk.. Lehkraskol told me to give you this." Unrolling it you see a recommendation letter for your services to the temple, signed and wax stamped with the scales of Kelemvor.
Looking around you don't see Bonewits the druid, just Liam and a few patrons quietly eating.
Zephyra thanks the lad for the message and whispers to Ufeza, "Could you spare me a silver for the boy, I spent all mine in town? It seems we have miles more to go before we sleep again. Shall we get going?"
"Sure, I struck out looking for some new reading material, but maybe one day soon. Here you go, lad. Spend it grandly." Ufeza says as he pulls out a silver coin and tosses it to the kid, giving him a smile and a wink.
(Are all of us at the table now? Or does someone need to go get them before we head out?)
Thariv arrives after a short shopping trip in new, more sturdy armor. "Not exactly what one would ear at sea, but it seems that this new voyage may be a bit more dangerous than a typical ocean journey."
He sees the letter and gives it a quick read. "Yes, I suppose we should be moving along soon."
"I wanted to mention, should things go badly, I do have quite a lot of Healing Kits in my pack. Should anyone like some supplies, I'd be happy to share." She taps her pack, "Especially if I happen to be the one down."
"Separately, I think since we're going to be around this town a bit, considering renaming Furrball. She's known in town already and don't want to create unnecessary reminders of the girl. What do you all think of Dragon?" Partially asking the cat and the group at the same time.
You'll note a similar set of new gear on Zephyra - (Leather to Studded). Dragon is my irl cat's name.
"Dragon is a good name" says Luther, making sure that his new shield is strapped to his pack securely enough to stay connected, but with a knot that can be loosened in an instant should it be needed. He sticks his big chin towards Thariv and says "You know knots dontcha? How much of a mess am I making here?"
Zephyra grins at Ufeza in spite of herself. "You know what this place needs? A Bard. We'll have to get back quickly so you can liven the place back up."
She looks over at Dragon, "Will that do for you little one?" She asks passing a bit of ham and petting it, getting used to its bony physique.
Looking at the missing place at the table she smiles, "Blossom take in a little too much ale last night?"

Blossom shrugs humbly and takes another drink. "You can't punch every problem..."

Thariv nods at Ufeza's words. "It does seem to be a very interesting mix of people and powers, doesn't it?" he says.
"It'll be interesting to say the least!" Ufeza said.
