Ilyara pulls her tinderbox from a pouch and plucks free another ball bearing. Wrapping a bit of her tinder around the bearing and tying it off, she flicked the bearing down the hallway past Nine, watching to see what happens.
This is why I tell people - if you don't carry ball bearings on your D&D character, you're a bad human being and I don't wanna play wit'choo no mo' :P
The bearing lands about 15 feet past Number 9 and bounces in the slime.

“Oh 9! You poor thing, here let me see that. Does it still hurt?” Toots drops her pack, pulls out whatever ice nuggets are there to top off her canteens, and uses the last piece of ice to sooth 9’s burns a bit. “There, is that a little better?”
*She is also very interested to see what happens to Ilyara’s ballbearing wrapped in tinder.

Is there any verdigris on the copper plates from all the humidity down here?
You stated that the plates are a foot off the ground. Is that watermark in this corridor too? And if so, does it reach the bottom of the copper plates, or stop below that line?
How long has it been since the party’s last long rest?
To Rei & Midnight:
Just so I can accurately adjust Toots’ inventory, did you use those iron spikes to secure your old rope and take a clean one to replace it? And if so, did you take a spare rope from the BoH, or Tommary’s spare rope? Also, I hat was that other stuff Ilyara wanted to offload into the BoH? (Sorry, been a stressful two days for me and I have OCD. Getting things organized correctly helps me calm that and focus. Thank you both, your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.
To E’rybody:
I don’t know about everyone else, but Toots is a little more than half out of spells.
We also have several magic items that have yet to be identified.
Plus, half the party can prepare whatever spells we need for the day every morning.
If it has been close to a day’s exploring at this point, do we want to press on since we still have resources to use, or do we think we might be able to prepare better after a rest and some prep? For all we know that glass dagger we found can kill copper mirrors of light reflecting doom (or whatever), and it’s just sitting idols and unidentified. Or maybe that other thing we found (what was it again?) can top off 9’s HP in a flash (pun absolutely intended) and we have no idea what it even is. I don’t mind a little gambling, life’s a game of trying to guess the right juice:squeeze ratios and hoping it works. However, gambling when you don’t even know what the stakes are is a bit different. Na’mean?
*I have stuff to do in a bit, dinner to cook and eat, and it’s Wednesday so I have my regular geek night tonight. As usual I will try to check in between stuff and during the bio-break, but I can’t promise nothing and don’t want to hold stuff up. In the interests of facilitation, I’ma be a little meta here and presume that Ily’s experiment has the results we all expect it to have:
”Oh wow! Did you see that?!? I wonder if this would work…? Hey, everyone, would you all mind terribly backing up a little bit with your lights? I would like to try something but I don’t want to get torched like that while I do. And just in case it goes sideways on me, I also don’t want any of you to get hurt either.”
Toots approaches the nearest plates but doesn’t actually step between them. Very carefully she attempts to soil that first pare of plates top to bottom until she is sure they are covered in a nice film of dingy scuzz that would obscure their luster and reflectivity. So dirty in fact that they might not even look like copper anymore at all.
In case any of that results in anything that means Toots needs to make a saving throw:
Roll: 11 (If either advantage or disadvantage needs to be applied, or in case she needs to rely on being a “Luck li’l Hin” because the master of her fate has shitty diceluck- Second Roll: 17) Str & Int: +0; Wis: +1; Con: +4; Cha & Dex: +7
Presuming that all happened without any incident:
”Alright everyone, I don’t know if that will work, but should we test it out?”
If the expected does not happen, ignore that spoiler. 😅

ropes. I had two, lost one in the flush. Some pitons too with it. I've already deducted the rope from my inventory but I should strike probably 2-3 pitons. Actually I also left some rope still strung up at Z way out hole, I'll just assume the part I left up was part of the rope I lost (I wouldn't have wanted to use a full 50' feet on the rescue line).
magic and rest. I believe DM is fine with me swapping out one of my unused spells for identify which I can ritualistically do over our lot in the morning (I think that was the plan). I'm not sure about timing but with all the flushing and woooooing, I'm pretty sure the party may well be exhausted from all that, and relatively waterlogged. Since leaving the Disco room, we've wheeled and dealed with Layla, tried to give Nine more juice from the turnstile, ascended out of the dungeon for some air, fought Henry and the Fish, failed at burning down the whole dungeon but pissed off some goblin blokes before fighting their brainiac predator supervisor, decided to Get (actually) Smart and pull out of the possible digestive track of doors, flush the dungeon, and now we're here with about an hour each rest after the brain fight and the breather in fresh air. I think maybe we're at four hours in if that was the express version?

OOC: The water line is just below the copper plates, there is no patina or discoloration on them. They also resist Toots' attempt to foil them.
"Well, while Toots is doing the chant again, why not try the obvious? Nine - how did you get hurt, and point to where you were standing when it happened."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"it burns you down there in the hall in the middle of those plates or when you were standing here where I found?"
Going to roll Tommary's investigation to see if he can suss whether those copper plates may be angled in a way to reflect light at a point in the hallway or if there's any other reasons for such plating in this place besides copper opulence. Investigation 16

Anyway, I got about 30' down as you saw, not even half way when I could feel all the metal on me starting to heat up in a not good way," Tommary looks at the positioning, "I mean, we could try to crawl under them if the plates are just doing a straight line, I do have something my sabre could send that might bust up the fixtures ahead of schedule if we are going to call it a day here."
OOC: On magic inventory I still have 3 2nd level slots and could try shatter at some intervals down the hall to see if that knocks the plates loose.

Presuming the others did so and the light disappeared, Ilyara started padding her way slowly, carefully forward, one hand lightly resting on the metal pommel of her sword to feel for any temperature changes. Should the sword start to heat, she'd immediately stop and retreat.
