Toots does her best to unharness herself and help Ily.

Tommary the Unworthy sighs and undoes his couch belts, gets up apologizing to anyone he may have to brush against to exit his seat, and ventures out of the comfortable room with a window view of nothing so he may explore noise.  Thinking it might be the basilisk more than the guide, Tommary will say to the party, "Might be the bassiliks," before stepping out, and will then proceed, actually creep, with caution to see what he can see and hear ahead.  stealth 32 perception 28

Tommary turns the corner and sees the spider guide scuttle over to him and hide behind him.

There are a few soft pops and clatters echoing from the open door down the hall but it is out of sight and Tommary guesses that something ungood has happened to one or both of the automatons in the puzzle room.

Eventually freeing herself of her entanglement, Ilyara skitters up next to Tommary, ears perked and tail twitching.  "Good, our guide's not dead," she mutters under her breath.  "Tallboots, any idea what happened?"

Tommary the Unworthy makes a lizard gesture with his hand, pointing first to the gesture's knuckles and then his eyes.  He then does a quick impression of a mechanical being by moving his arms up and down in a pantomime of a stiff jog, then freezes, shuttering, and leans indicating a fall.  Then he does a one second gesture, points to the unopened door closest to them and then fans his white and brown tiles.

OOC: he does all this to maintain his stealth roll.

OOC: Oh my!  I had in my head that our guide had returned to the spider people.  My memory is apparenty faulty!

OOC: That's what I thought too, but maybe they couldn't find their way back or there's news, or their queen starved to death so our debt is moot.

“C’mon Ely!” Says Toots, grabbing her hand. “Let’s go!” And she hurriedly makes her way to catch up with the others.

"So...a sock puppet went jogging, had a seizure, and now you wanna know if you should deal 'em into a poker game?" Ilyara mutters, before drawing Rilia and flexing the fingers of her Evil Hand.  "Right.  We gotta get on this somehow.  Open it and back me up," she says before casting Mirror Image on herself and waiting for the Keymaster to do his thing.

Tommary's lizard gesture rolls its eyes dramatically.  "Beware the Basilisk" Tommary the Unworthy says while unsheathing Windbreaker and inserting the white card into the door.

“So what’s up.” Asks Toots as she arrives on the scene with Ely.

When the door opens, you immediately notice that most of the ceiling light tubs have been taken out. The door opposite is still open showing a bright rectangle of illumination.

Within the dimly lit room you see the remains of the two automatons, both smashed to pieces. There are still a few containers with creatures and boxes that have not been moved.

Facing you from about the middle of the room is a lone figure, pale of skin, darkly dressed, and draped with sharp edged chains.

"Ah there you are."

“Woah, who’s that?”

"Boss, we need not fight. I see we both speak the greenspeech."

Elyona will draw her ROLM and click the button to turn it into a flamesword, but she will keep it pointed down.  At the same time, she will eye this weapon as best she can.  Has Elyona seen this kind of weapon before?  What might she know about it?

Ilyara doesn't speak, but instead spends her time whiole Tallboots does his thing to size up this possible foe and see how ninja she is try to identify weapons, signs of combat style, signs of spellcasting ability, or anything else she can figure out with an intensive eye scan.

 She recognizes it as a weapon used almost exclusively by yoogymen - beings that you tell stories to scare children. But just because it's a child's tale doesn't make it false. Some folk know them as ruthless killers, the Black Caps.

 The person is indeed what the Elves would call a ninja. They are rumored to possess great martial skills and powers of darkness arts. The chains give them reach and can entangle their victims while cutting them apart. Trying to hit a ninja is like trying to land a blow on smoke or myst. 

But you know, rumors are just rumors.
