Balasar sniffed the air before gesturing to the east tunnel, "tracks here only go in and not out." He sniffed the air again, "It may be dangerous, maybe even deadly, but I think we should check this path."
Anya looks skeptical about the idea. “I’m with Hrothbert on this one. If we’re here to take care of kobolds, we should follow the path with the most kobolds. Besides, I don’t really like the sounds of “maybe even deadly”.”
“Yeah there was. But we are initially contracted to clear the kobolds and the miner was an additional mention. There was no requirement to find them was there? Also after we knocked those two off the bridge back there the rest will come looking soon I’m betting. And wouldn’t want them at our backs if we can help it.”
“Look if we wait here much longer we won’t have a choice because it’ll come find us. So let’s get moving. Balasar feels east is best, Anya says west, I vote west as well. Anyone else?”
“Well to the west it is. Lead on Thulmar! Anya if you don’t mind helping him Rhys, Balasar, and Kaloruk in the middle. I’ll take up the rear in case our friends from the bridge return.”
You walk down the west passage. A table and chairs are set up in the next room to create a space for the miners to take breaks. On top of the table, two kobolds are poking a giant rat with their javelins to make sure it's dead. The kobolds screech loudly as they notice you.

“Ok Then. Any objections? Thulmar you might as well take lead. Anya if you could watch for traps with him that would be great. I’ll take the rear.”
Loyalty Begets Honour
"Well one kolbold is better than many." Kaloruk pointed, getting back to his feet to follow after Anya.

"I don't think these are kobold tracks," Balasar replied.

Balasar considered the tracks leading to the east tunnel, "Wasn't there some mention about a missing miner?"
“Yeah there was. But we are initially contracted to clear the kobolds and the miner was an additional mention. There was no requirement to find them was there? Also after we knocked those two off the bridge back there the rest will come looking soon I’m betting. And wouldn’t want them at our backs if we can help it.”

"But what if the miner is badly hurt and needs our aid as soon as possible?"

"We don't even know if he went that way. Or if he's still alive."

Balasar thought for a moment. They could possibly save one man going east, or they can save the village by going west.
"We should go west," he spoke, "After, we can go east."
“Well to the west it is. Lead on Thulmar! Anya if you don’t mind helping him Rhys, Balasar, and Kaloruk in the middle. I’ll take up the rear in case our friends from the bridge return.”

"Oh i hope not." Kaloruk chuckled. "They may hold a terriible grudge for that fall."
