Its purplish blood splatters on the ground as the warhammer connects. It disengages and flies away, into the darkness of the mineshaft and into the underdark.
“It seems to have been the apex predator here. Judging by its state it has been relatively secure for awhile. Shall we go after it?” Hrothbert readies himself and starts in the direction the creature went.
Upon reaching the edge of the shaft, Hrothbert stops, looks down for a bit and then turns back to the rest. “Well there’s no following it now. But we may deal with it later”
“But back to why we came” Hrothbert eyes the Kobolds. “Suppose you tell us how many of you are here and which one of you is the leader.”
Hrothbert eyes up the “leader”, not sure if he should believe this one. “Ok, so tell me what drove you here and how can we help you get back where you came from?”
(Is there any distinguishing features on this one? Anyway to separate them from the others?)
Kaloruk takes a seat on the ground to rest a little. "First the yeti and now that horrid creature. Seems Lady Luck is not favoring you, Sir Trex. Though frankly I think the yeti will be far less dangerous to take on then...whatever that abomination was."

Long time roleplayer and artist, I enjoy the fantasy world of dragons and magic. It only makes sense I dive into Dungeons and Dragons!
Looking forward to learning the game and making new friends. :)

He told you that they were driven from Kelvin's Cairn by a yeti, but also mentioned that the wilds was unsafe for kobolds while this eternal winter persists. As for distinguishing features, he wears tattered cloth "dragon wings"
The thing seems intelligent enough, and likely won't come back for a while. Balasar also finds signs this is its lair, and it likely has fled to a new lair in the underdark, since this one is no longer safe.
"I take it this means the creature must be dealt with. How though? How the monster not fled when it did, what's to say it wouldn't had finished us off?"

(OOC: Are there signs of bones or anything that would suggest that the creature had been feeding here? And if so, what kind of bones (human or kobold)?)

“Ok. You feel that the wilds are not safe and you need somewhere else? I know that the miners will not return until they know the mines are safe again.” Hrothbert sits thinking a bit. “How are kobolds at mining?”
Balasar moves in a flash, seriously injuring the creature in a blur of movement. Hrothbert is up!
Hrothbert readies his warhammer again, setting both hands to the handle and swinging. (Rolls in app. To hit: 22. Dmg: 10)
After hitting the creature, Hrothbert sets his back foot, preparing for the counter attack.

Balasar remains ready, just in case the creature makes a sudden return.
"I get the feeling that this area is only its hunting grounds and not its actual lair."
Kaloruk holding on to his sore side from where he was grabbed by the tentacle.
"What in the world was that creature anyways? uhn.. I pray there is only one.."

The kobold that's been speaking with you identifies himself as Trex, the leader, and says there are 4 of them left, including him.

"The yeti may be less formidable," says Balasar, "But, as long as that creature remains here, the mines will not be safe for anyone, human or kobold."
(If anyone wants to make an arcana check (this wasn't a natural creature) to figure out if it will return, you can.)

Yes, and both.
