So, quick question: can vampires open doors? RAW only states: Forbiddance. The vampire can't enter a residence without an invitation from one of the occupants. So obviously they can't enter a buidling without being invited in first, but is there anything stopping a vampire from using a spell, let's say thaumaturgy or knock, to open a door belonging to someone else's house? They don't ever actually enter the building to do so after all, so at least RAW I don't see why they couldn't. I'm curious how you guys would judge this though.
Yes. Nothing in the rules says they cannot open doors or affect anything beyond them. They just cannot pass the threshold themselves.

I agree with the above posters. Opening a door is different than going through it. Due to that, a vampire can just walk up to everybody's house, open the door, and stand in the doorframe smiling at the residents inside.

BoringBard's long and tedious posts somehow manage to enrapture audiences. How? Because he used Charm Person, the #1 bard spell!

Though one could also make the argument that if the door opens inward, their arm can't pass the threshold. The door would have to swing inwards on its own momentum.

That's reasonable, but usually it's not much effort to push a door enough for it to swing open. Although this has me thinking of silly ways that a vampire could still cause trouble while outside. LIke... I'm just picturing a vampire standing in an open doorway with a long stick that has a needle on the end attached to a long tube so they can suck someone's blood without entering the building.

Agreed. The act of opening the door is fine, especially if they can do it with magic of some kind. They just can't physically enter the building.
