An Artificer is a ritual caster, but the spells must be prepared. A Wizard is a ritual caster, but only needs the spell written in their spell book.
So if a player multiclasses Artificer 1 / Wizard 1 could they take the time to prepare a ritual spell, then create a scroll for it, and then copy that scroll into their spellbook? Thus that player would never have to prepare the ritual spells as a standard Artificer would and the Wizard side would get some additional spells for their spellbook.
As long as the spells are also wizard spells, you can use them without preparation. Admittedly, that isn't really an issue for Artificer, but if the other class were something like Cleric, it would be.

Why do you say it isn't an issue for Artificer? If you didn't go through the procedure described above, the Artificer has to prepare the ritual spell (since it is not yet in the Wizard's spell book). But after going through the procedure, the spell is in the wizard's spell book so, no preparation is needed.

Because artificers get exactly one ritual spell that isn't a wizard spell, purify food and drink.

Or is there something I'm missing?
I would allow this as a DM, but keep in mind the GP requirement of that task.

Thanks to both of you!
