So I'm working on making 2 bags of holding to be used as an escape plan.
The idea being that if my party is were to be incapacitated I could put 1 bag in the other and we would be sent to the Astral Plane. If this seems wasteful that's becasuse it is, it also may work
My only concern is how do we leave and return to the PMP?
This is covered in the DMG. While in the Astral Plane you travel by flying at a speed determined by 3x your intelligence score. However, there's no distance in the Astral Plane - spatial relativity is kinda meaningless and you get to where you want by just moving in any direction and thinking about it. Eventually you get to where you want. The plane is filled with pools of different colours and of varying sizes. For the material plane you need a Silver Pool. Since distance is pointless and there's no "fixed points" - it's chance on how long it takes to find one but on the bright side you don't need to know where to go. Just pick any direction, think about the material plane and go. After 1d4 x 10 hours of travel you find the right coloured pool you needed.
Now, where on the material plane that pool leads to is up to the DM, though.

Get yourself a scroll of plane shift, or someone who can cast it.
Cast banishment on each other. Of course that leaves one person stranded. Unless you have two in the party who can cast it and your dm is ok With kind of fudging the rules to let them go off simultaneously. And you could have a situation where the PCs are scattered all over the plane.

I could use this. I think I will make it my next perches after night vision goggles.

Alright I can work with that. We all have amulets that allow a one time teleport back to an Inn in some town.
The reason I want the bags is while the telaport could be blocked a space time rupture probably can't be.

Teleport won’t help. It only allows movement on the same plane, not moving from one to another.
