Does time stop for the items or does it continue while they are melded.
While it often doesn't matter, in the case of say a burning lantern or items with spell duration. Do they come out with no time expired or does the lantern run out of oil?

There are no specific rules for this, so DM's call.
I'd keep it as simple as possible. Time still moves forward, but maybe have non-magical fire be extinguished (be weird if it wasn't). Basically have everything treated as if it was stuffed in a pocket or bag.
In my case, I'd rue that the lantern is extinguished. It doesn't consume any more fuel - but it won't already be lit when the Druid reverts to their own shape, they'll have to break out the flint-and-steel to light it anew.
But, time would still pass. Things that can spoil - like food - would still do so. But they wouldn't be subject to external conditions; a druid who holds a message on paper in their hand before changing to become an owl, then flying off into torrential rain ... if they were back under a roof when they changed back, the paper would still be dry. Well, except for the water all over their hands, of course. :D

Wildshape can make items meld into the form.

As DxJxC says, that's a call for individual GMs.
