I am creating a character that was prophesied to do terrible things with his power. He was born with magic and has since studied magic to control his natural powers. He is going to be a level 1 storm sorcerer and wizard the rest. I am trying to figure out what arcane tradition to choose, I want him to be a battlefield control caster. You can use UA content.
Divination is great because with portent you can force fails. Evocation is also good because you can deselect allies and won't risk hurting your allies.

The war wizard from XGTE is a good balance between defense and offense, but you could also go for the school of transmutation if BF control is what you're really going for.

School of Invention is nice if you want to focus on his reckless power.

Could also go straight sorcerer with wild magic bloodline.
Perhaps go with the sage background to show the time of study and that attempt to control your magic.
