I do not know much about Gem Dragons outside of what has been presented ITT, but I like the idea of a type of dragon that sits between the Evil Chromatic and the Good Metallic.
You have the two opposed sides in combat with a 3rd in the middle either staying out of the way or getting in the way. My preference are those who get in the way to make sure one side doesn't completely destroy the other. The reasons could be a mix of egoism and altruism keeping them firmly between the two poles of Good and Evil.
That psionic business seems to be a hot topic of which I'm staying out of the way because I don't have enough experience to offer solutions to appease the majority and just don't want to deal with the hassle.
I should be a Gem Dragon.

Human. Male. Possibly. Don't be a divider. My characters' backgrounds are written like instruction manuals rather than stories. My opinion and preferences don't mean you're wrong. I am 99.7603% convinced that the digital dice are messing with me. I roll high when nobody's looking and low when anyone else can see.🎲 “It's a bit early to be thinking about an epitaph. No?” will be my epitaph.

I love the Gem dragons. Each one of the main Gem Dragons had an interesting nature that varies a lot between each other.
The Amethyst dragons were typically very wise and regal and liked to act as diplomats and intermediaries for other dragons or other groups.
Crystal Dragons were very friendly and curious and have even been known to steal white dragon eggs to raise them to be good.
Emerald Dragons are the sages of this dragon group and love seeking out knowledge and history, however they are also very paranoid and as such have a hard time making friends or alliances do to this.
Sapphire Dragons are militaristic, warlike, and very territorial as all get out and tend to be very anti-social, and hate the evil aligned races of the underdark.
Topaz Dragons of very unfriendly and selfish, and tend to act erratically which makes them difficult and sometimes dangerous to deal with.
Obsidian Dragons are the "black Sheep" of the Gem Dragons that were cast out by Sardior. They are very intelligent, but they are also extremely cruel, haughty, easily angered and sadistic. They can make the Chromatic Dragons look merciful at times.

I like Amethyst Dragons best (it’s also my birth stone for real).
On the topic of dragons I really wish wizards would have done this before I started then building the father of timat and buhumat would be so much cooler with the gem dragon god thrown in it

In a word 'terrifying', their intelligence can be game breaking. in game breaking scale I put it some where between time traveling and charisma nukes.
