Here we are again. This is technically more of a mechanical build question as opposed to a thematic one, but I can easily write up a character to fill this build. (I'm thinking a Kitsune (Foxfolk (Reflavored Tabaxi)), but it doesn't really matter too much). Is it feasible to cross the Druid and Monk classes? Wildshapes could act as a damage sponge, while Monk features would make them more combat-feasible. Specifically, Unarmored Defense would buff my Wildshapes' AC, and the Astral Monk's Astral Arms would allow me to use WIS as opposed to STR or DEX for attacks, all the while changing the damage type to force and increasing their range by 5 ft. And unless I'm mistaken, Unarmored Movement also applies while Wildshaped.
Is this multiclass worth it? Have any of you done this cross before? Is there anything that I'm blatantly missing? My biggest concern is that monk levels would make wildshapes redundant, but I don't know if that would be the case.
There has been plenty of discussion on this multiclass. The usual wisdom is that it's never a good idea to take more than one level dip in another class if you're trying to do Moon Druid - it delays your access to advanced wildshapes, especially Elementals. The AC bonus from level 1 Monk is what you're here for - going to level 3 to get Astral takes too much away from your wildshape progression. Polar bears and Earth Elementals have 20 STR anyway.
Also, be prepared for constant arguments over what multiclass abilities transfer to your wildshape.
And, while niche, if you think your campaign goes to level 20, never do anything other than pure Moon Druid, as Archdruid is goofily overpowered for this particular subclass.
