We're levelling up to 6 in our campaign, and I'm switching out my hexadin for an awakened cat PC (long story). I like to make characters in my spare time, so I mass-produced some class combos for a cat and now I can't decide between them. The game is on Sunday. Help!
I narrowed it down to 9. All of them sound equally fun to me, and most are Tiny and have the Telekinetic feat since as a cat I'm light enough to stand on a Mage Hand. The barbarian in Medium for grappling.
- Aberrant Mind Sorcerer (cute cat with terrifying mind powers)
- Artillerist Artificer (replicates the sensory experience of a dragon via illusions, flamethrower cannon, and pipes of haunting infused to mimic Frightful Presence)
- Necromancer Wizard (has 15 pet skeletons made of hundreds of mice skeletons swarming together)
- Beast Barbarian (grapple someone and then jump up to 315 feet in the air, or 90 if you account for max move speed, Ring of Feather Falling so i don't die)
- Twilight Cleric with Chef and Inspiring Leader feats to be a temp hp dispenser
- Forge Cleric with constant 26 AC
- Peace Cleric (breaks math)
- Dao Warlock (uses the Crusher Feat and Repelling Blast to yeet people 25ft. into the sky)
- Dex-based Conquest Paladin (purely so I can have people terrified of a tiny cat)

Sounds fun. Tabaxi could be an option since they're small size too? Idk. Tossing it out there.

Okay I'll comment on the few that stand out.
- Aberrant Mind Sorcerer (cute cat with terrifying mind powers)
Dope. Love it. No notes.
- Twilight Cleric with Chef and Inspiring Leader feats to be a temp hp dispenser
Twilight is fantastic. But I just gotta point out that twilight makes both chef and inspiring leader redundant. The THP from twilight is way higher than either of them, and twilight can pump out the THP twice per short rest... and for 10 rounds each time... to everyone... and higher amounts. And they don't expire until either used or after a long rest.
Twilight is sometimes critiqued for how much it overshadows other THP abilities. Typically this is in context to a different character in the party feeling like the twilight overshadow them. But if you take these feats you're going to be overshadowing yourself. You'd never, or very rarely use these feats for the THP and it'll feel like wasted feats.
Consider instead just using your channel divinity early in the morning, get a nice full sized THP on your whole team, and take a short rest over breakfast to regain the use.
- Dao Warlock (uses the Crusher Feat and Repelling Blast to yeet people 25ft. into the sky)
This would be hilarious, since you can run under their feet as a Tiny sized creature and actually be directly under them. You might end up needing to knock them 5ft to the side though so they don't land on top of you when falling back down.
- Dex-based Conquest Paladin (purely so I can have people terrified of a tiny cat)
Good in theory but you might have to figure out how you plan to also fight. As a paladin, even a conquest paladin, you'll end up needing to attack. (or otherwise have an Action you can reliably use in combat)

I'm probably laughing.
It is apparently so hard to program Aberrant Mind and Clockwork Soul spell-swapping into dndbeyond they had to remake the game without it rather than implement it.
- Beast Barbarian (grapple someone and then jump up to 315 feet in the air, or 90 if you account for max move speed, Ring of Feather Falling so i don't die)
This is the build i'd go for. For a medium cat you could be a greatcat with a nosering !
lmao that sounds hilarious. I'm also considering Rune Knight, so that I can decide that my Tiny cat is now the size of a house.
Or a Moon Druid, so I can jump on top of someone's head and then Wild Shape into a rhinoceros. The average rhino weights about a ton. And I'm still on top of that poor guy.

My vote is for the aberrant mind sorcerer. It seems the most honestly cat-like.
