There are various combinations of magics that could temporarily and/or more permanently have her looking like her old self again, if that's what you are going for. Outside of actual in-game printed items or spells, there might be a fun quest in it for your group to seek out some lost location, item, or great magic that can return her physical form to more resemble its "true self."

I guess the question is, are you looking for like official items or potions or spells that can make your wife's character look like a wood elf again? If so, there are a few options that can be applied, though many of them are mostly temporary. That said, there is lots of just weird "magic shit" that players run across in adventures that are more location or quest centric that aren't really stated in any official way. Think of like a magical pool that if you bathe in it, will cause you to transform into your true self, or a mirror that forces your body to match your soul. Then there's always divine quests or some wizard offers to brew up a one-time transformation if your wife goes and gets the wizard something from a dangerous place.
So yeah, what sort of thing are you looking for and how can we help you?
You could always create a symbiant-like character. The soul of your wife's character is reborn. She can't explain it. She just does. She is reborn into a new body. New stats. New class. New alignment. Her elven bloodline experiences this phenomena, but there is a light at the end of the road. Travel to the Feywild. Speak with (insert archfey name here). He/She may have knowledge of this rare elven experience.
Now that she is "Aware" of this effect, she can either accept the Journey as a Gift or a Curse. Why does she reincarnate like this? Is there a purpose? Perhaps she is an anomaly. What is that deviation/variation from the bloodline? And most importantly, she "Reincarnates" a limited number of times. Her Charisma modifier determines this, with a minimum of once.
Ancient wood elves call it Spirit Traveler. Others resort to calling it something else: Death Cheater.
I guess Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes might help you with this. It has a whole chapter about the "malleability" (if I spelled that correctly XD) of the Wood Elves. As said by AdventureHalz, you could have the adventure go through the Feywild which is chaotic enough that it changes her race again. Maybe a particular encounter with Wild Magic alters her. There are many ways that could lead to an interesting story.
Erm, no. I have found that gaming with my spouse has provided me with a great deal of enjoyment over the years. Our games develop into stories that we can cooperatively create and engage in. Also, I find it much easier to game since she does as well. I do not have to deal with the "I'm going to hand out at the gaming shop on Saturday for like 5 to 6 hours, every week for like the next year, year and a half. Have Fun with the kiddos." Which I imagine creates quite the side eye from non gaming spouses.
If she casts the Wish "I want to be a Wood Elf", there is no way you can pass up the opportunity to turn her into a wooden statue.
^ LOL!
@namelesstuna9 casting WISH is probably your best bet and you are the DM so it's up to you if you grant that Wish. Finding a powerful Sorc/Wiz to cast it is the challenge here... but again you are the DM so you can just make an NPC I guess. haha.
For REINCARNATE though, you would have to kill your wife's character again (which sucks and seems kinda dark) and hope she doesn't turn into an Orc next time... The odds for Wood Elf seem slim (35-42 roll)...

That sounds great! I was just referring to the hazard of favoritism suggested in MetaMongoose's comment: the possibility that a DM might not choose a particular outcome for a player merely because that player is their spouse is a little troubling. If that's not an issue for your group, great, but also it's the kind of problem that other people at the table would be having, not you.
Oh, I get what you are saying now. I actually remember in my much younger days of DMing, I did show favoritism, not for my spouse, but for my friends. We would Monty Haul the heck out of AD&D, Champions, MSH, and loads of other games. I did it, because I wanted my friends to have fun and enjoy say slashing a Dragon with a Sword +5 Holy Avenger. I did not want to deal with the sulking that could occur when I used the Sword of Sharpness AGAINST them though. That said, I am decades, OMG, decades shudder, away from my teen age DM days and feel pretty comfortable crippling, maiming, stealing from, and even outright killing my wife's PCs if the story requires it.
As to the OP's question, I would suggest a simpler approach: Sure, she reincarnated as a Human, but her soul is Elven. Over the course of the next few months (or years) her new body shifts to reflect her inner soul.
Thank you to everyone who has commented on this forum. You have all been very helpful. I think I'll make a quest after the campaign we are on for her to maybe "cure" herself, but have a twist that someone else needs to be cured instead.
so my wife’s character died, but was reincarnated as a human. Is there anyway besides wish or reincarnate spells to try and turn back into a wood elf?

Every time your character and hers have a disagreement... Wham! Another opportunity to try for Reincarnate.

I know this is an old thread but reincarnate in PHB states"
[The DM rolls a d100 and consults the following table to determine what form the creature takes when restored to life, or the DM chooses a form.]
So could have her killed and reincarnated again as a wood elf if you are the DM, or have a nice DM that will pick what you want to be.
lvl 10 Clerric, Divine Intervention.
lvl 17 Druid, True Polymorph.
I play with my husband as the DM, he's just killed my Gnome Wizard and the party are trying to bring her back.
