You’d want to have 6 levels of Storm Sorcerer for resistance to thunder and lightning damage, 6 levels of Celestial Warlock for resistance to radiant, and Tiefling with Infernal Constitution for fire, cold, and poison. Then take 7 levels in Rogue for Evasion which has the same effect as resistance for any effect that has a Dexterity saving throw or 7 levels of Oath of the Ancients Paladin for resistance to damage from all spells.
This is the best response so far.
Tiefling has Fire Resistance, and gains Cold and Poison Resistance at L4
The first six levels being taken in Storm Sorcerer grants Lightning and Thunder resistance at L6
That's a total of 5 permanent Resistances to fairly common damage types at L6.
This is also really nice for spellcasters since they no longer need to prepare absorb elements unless your dm throws lots of acid damage at you. Also, if you then go into 6 levels of dao genie warlock, you can get resistance to bludgeoning damage (fall damage, damage from water effects, rocks, and lots of other projectiles) and a fly speed, while being one of the most synergistic builds in 5e (sorlock).
my gm is running a Greek mythology campaign and using theros supernatural gifts so I can also get resistance to radiant and necrotic from nyxborn.
I hate that everyone automatically goes Kalashtar instead of the Gith because in my opinion the Gith are WAY better! For the totem barbarian build by the way.

custom or variant human, level 1 heavy armour mastery feat
, +1 strength, max 18 on custom, damage reduction 3 verses bludgeon, slash and pierce damage, pays off in 9 out of 10 combats.

Drow Shadowblades are so good! Give them a Google!
What variation of Tieflings is that for Infernal Constitution
It's a racial feat in Xanathar's.
Speaking of, level 20 Paladin of Redemption literally gains resistance to all damage, provided they haven't attacked yet.
