Going by the recommendations of price in the DMG, an uncommon magic item would sell for between 100 gp and 500 gp.
So unless the puzzle box is of exemplary quality (i.e. 500 gp), it wouldn't qualify for the soul jar for the Magic Jar spell, which has a material component requirement of "a gem, crystal, reliquary, or some other ornamental container worth at least 500 gp".
Also, your soul probably isn't an "object" and so wouldn't trigger the lock on the puzzle box :-)
Why would anyone want to do this? If the Magic Jar container is more than 100 ft away and your host dies, you die and if within 100 ft, your soul is locked in there for a good long while, given how difficult it is to open it and while inside you won't be able to possess anyone new.
Seems silly.

This is a bit late but you could always just put the container inside the puzzle box
