It makes it poorly supported though thanks to the dumb "three books" rule; Artificer only got a fourth sub-class because the entire class got reprinted in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, and they've not said anything to my knowledge about changing that policy, which means any class that isn't in the player's handbook will just end up being a second-class citizen if it can't receive the same goodies or updates as other classes without being reprinted in its entirety at the same time.

Didn't they do away with that rule? The latest AL rules (July 11, 2022) don't limit the number of books. They limit which books you can use, and which optional rules. Or are you referring to something else?

I really love Warlock, I still hold out hope that Warlock will still be a fun class to play after the UA is edited and made into 2024 edition. But let's face reality girls and boys. That is NOT the way things are going. Once again, Wizards are going to be the uber-class. Just read the UA as it stands now. It only perpetuates what we have had for years. There is zero class balance in D&D. Instead of calling this Dungeons and Dragons, it should be called Wizards and Weenies. Because if you are not playing a Wizard...

You may want to check the UA again because in that the Sorcerer was VASTLY superior to Wizard that it wasn't even a contest. They nerfed Wizard and made Sorcerer the ultimate supreme caster.
Brush the bias out of your eyes and try giving it a re-read.
Because Modify spell is limited and less useful than metamagic, (and is something they can already do now, just not specifically wizards) and Sorcs can, with only the cost of some time, give everyone in their party permanent resistance to all damage types, and can basically use basic Wish once free every day with no risk or cost. Oh and they also now have the same spell list as Wizard. And they get more spells known while wizards now prep less. And they now have more free casts. Get more sorc points for even more casting than any other caster class..
I dunno, rewriting reality twice a day with zero risk sure seems like a big win for the Sorc while Wizard just got a little nerf.
And that's without factoring the design flaw that it is now possible for a wizard that didn't prep Scribe Spell and lost their spellbook to now never again be able to prep new spells even if they got a new spellbook (unless Order of Scribes).
Modify/Create spell is more powerful than metamagic since it permanently alters the spell, so a Wizard can just permanently make all of their spells have unbreakable concentration, and only affect enemies and for many not require any components. But the unlimited Wish is totally broken.

I certainly hope your right. Though the "only affect enemies" IMO was even more broken than the unbreakable concentration, it's just not as obviously so. But imagine applying it to Stinking Cloud or Cloudkill - you party can stay in the cloud no issues at all, while enemies get debilitated if they enter, plus the party is obscured from the enemies as well...

A level 9 Warlock cannot take the Lifedrinker invocation. That invocation has a requirement of lv 12.
In the playtest materials Lifedrinker is a level 9 invocation, but adds d6 damage rather than Cha mod.
