I'm DMing my first campaign in two weeks and one of my players are playing a fighter Aarakocra. Now this wouldn't be a problem usually. BUT THIS IS THIS PERSONS FIRST TIME PLAYING DND! I can only imagine the shenanigans that he will be able to cause with being able to fly and action surge!
Umm, assuming they’re an archer, I guess they’ll shoot an extra time 1/rest? I don’t see the problem here. Flying isn’t nearly as OP as people think. It can make some exploration challenges easier, but in combat, the flier is just hanging up there as a big target with no cover from enemy ranged attacks. And if they get him to 0, he takes fall damage and starts with a failed death save. And indoors, flying doesn’t help at all.
In addition to what Xalthuposted, anything that can drop the flyers movement speed to 0 will cause them to instantly fall too.
Flying Creatures? Here in 2024 DND, those are a joke. Just got my trusty trident, and we're all set!
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Hey, It's me, RaccoonMaster! I'm back! I disappeared for a while there, but now everything's good and I'm trying to get into more games!
I'm a young opera singer, writer, actor, and backpacker from the US South! Pronouns are They/Them, though it's chill.
My Characters: Elsenia Selevarum:The Popular Paladin, Aasimar Noble, Level 5 Paladin of Redemption; Secret: The Awakened Scholar, Tiefling Genie-Touched, Level 3 Abberant Mind Sorcerer

Hope to see you around!
I didn't think about the fact that action surge is good but flying sucks
