I am trying to create a homebrew wizard subclass but I am having trouble integrating the damage for this ability into the action added:
As a Bonus Action, you can make one melee attack with a dagger against a creature within your reach.
On a hit, the target suffers the attack’s normal effects, and the attack deals extra Necrotic damage equal to your Proficiency Bonus + your Intelligence modifier.
If the creature is neither an Undead nor a Construct, you can subtract the total damage dealt by this attack from the damage you would take from Crimson Exchange if you use that feature before the end of the current turn.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.
I essentially just want to have it to where it will show how much damage this ability would do without actually having to remember every time.
I have only created one Subclass and am not the best at it, but I can tell you that what I did was reach out in the Homebrew & House Rules Forum when I had questions like this and got the help I needed.
I hope you can get the help that you need and make something you think is really fun :)
Cheers!

Breathe, dragons; sing of the First World, forged out of chaos and painted with beauty. Sing of Bahamut, the Platinum, molding the shape of the mountains and rivers; Sing too of Chromatic Tiamat, painting all over the infinite canvas. Partnered, they woke in the darkness; partnered, they labored in acts of creation.
As a Bonus Action, you can make one melee attack with a dagger against a creature within your reach.
On a hit, the target suffers the attack’s normal effects, and the attack deals an extra {{proficiency+modifier:int#unsigned}} Necrotic damage.
If the creature is neither an Undead nor a Construct, you can subtract the total damage dealt by this attack from the damage you would take from Crimson Exchange if you use that feature before the end of the current turn.
You can use this {{proficiency}} times per Long Rest.
The calculated values will be in bold already. If you want to bold anything else, you can use HTML: <strong>Crimson Exchange</strong>

Greetings Slickwilly1011,
I have only created one Subclass and am not the best at it, but I can tell you that what I did was reach out in the Homebrew & House Rules Forum when I had questions like this and got the help I needed.
Additionally, that Forum has some pinned discussion that were very helpful as well, like the A Home Brewers' "How To" FAQ and the Everything you need to know about Homebrew (Tutorials & FAQ) Forums.
I hope you can get the help that you need and make something you think is really fun :)
Cheers!

ModeratorAny time you want to calculate and display a number on the sheet, you can use snippet code. As the name suggests, this will work in any Snippet field (not the Description or any other field).

For this specific feature, I'd do it like so:
The calculated values will be in bold already. If you want to bold anything else, you can use HTML: <strong>Crimson Exchange</strong>
