I didn't know where to ask this and maybe I am reading the map wrong but I am really confused by it. At the bottom it has what I presume to be a distance bar from 0 to 375 in the middle to 750 at the other end. Then it says miles underneath it. Does that mean the distance from one end of the bar to the other is 750 miles? Does that mean Port Damali is about 4,500 miles across?
That can't be right. The USA isn't even 4,500 miles across. Hence the confusion. Help, how am I supposed to read it?
I just want to know how long it might take to travel from one end of the port to the other.
Oh, wow. Yeah, that has to be wrong. I would assume it's meant to be feet not miles.

"Orcs are savage raiders and pillagers with stooped postures, low foreheads, and piggish faces with prominent lower canines that resemble tusks." MM p245 (original printing) You don't OWN your books on DDB: WotC can change them any time. What do you think will happen when OneD&D comes out?
So it is meters then. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated!
The map is not in meters, D&D doesn't use meters in English localisation, they use imperial. The scale bar explicitly says 'miles' and even if it was meters the scale would still be incorrect. The boats shown would be over half a km long if that were the case
There I ran the numbers using meters and those boats would be 14 times the size of the titanic. Even in feet, they would be several times the size of the ships we have stats for.
Yeah, I did the math with a ruler and millimeters. If the scale is in feet, that long ship in the south dock would be about 531' long!

Which isn't entirely unreasonable (unlike using larger units, ships have actually been made that big), but is still larger than any confirmed ship in the game.
Okay, I got curious. List of longest wooden ships. Longest was 450'. Seems it wasn't very seaworthy.
This ship had a tendency to flex in heavy seas, causing the planks to twist and buckle due to their extreme length despite being fitted with metal bracing. Water was evacuated nearly constantly by steam pumps. It foundered in heavy seas with loss of all hands

This is a known error present on some of the maps in EGtW, both physical and digital.

No, it was confirmed to be meters.

There is another thread for this topic here:

So then what is it? What is the solution to use reasonable distances while we wait for an official correction?
Looking at it some more, maybe half the bar is 100 ft. Mostly for Port Damali specifically. I haven't looked at any of the other maps. Thoughts?

Still no update? Map still shows the wrong measurement.
I don't think it's been erratad yet, so DDB can't change it.
I have a weird sense of humor.
I also make maps.(That's a link)
Still hasn't been fixed up by the look of it but I'm running a campaign and I'm safely going to assume it's feet. Otherwise GOD DAMN!
