I'm attempting to make a character sheet on here, using a character I have already made and played up to lvl 5. At level 4 I took a feat instead of the ability score improvement. My character is a Protector Aasimar, life domain cleric. I took the feat Magic Initiate, however when I attempt to add this feat in my character the only option that it gives me is the grappler feat. Can anyone tell me why it won't let me add it, or did I miss something in my php and there is a prerequisite that I missed...
The feature/subclass/race you are referring to is not part of the D&D 5th edition SRD and will need to be unlocked from the marketplace before you can use it on D&D Beyond.
You can purchase the feat you want for $2, which will be discounted off the cost of the Player's Handbook if/when you choose to unlock the full book on D&D Beyond.
Have you purchased the PHB in DnD Beyond? Typically if only the grappler feat appears, it's because folks haven't purchased any content here (or at least not any content that includes feats. You don't have to purchase the entire PHB here, you can just purchase the feat you need (click on "See Purchase Options" in the PHB entry in the Marketplace).
While I believe in purchasing content here (Curse staff deserve to be compensated for their work), if you can't afford to do that, or a philosophically opposed to doing so, you can also homebrew the feat in question. (Although if you have been able to select the Protector Aasimar, you must have bought Volo's or the race, or have access to it through content sharing)

Hi there,
The feature/subclass/race you are referring to is not part of the D&D 5th edition SRD and will need to be unlocked from the marketplace before you can use it on D&D Beyond.
D&D Beyond can be used for free and contains information from the following "free to use" sources published by Wizards of the Coast: D&D 5th edition SRD, D&D 5th edition Basic Rules, and Elemental Evil Companion.
Content from other sources, such as the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, or Monster Manual, will need to be purchased from the Marketplace or accessed via another user sharing content with you via their Master Tier Subscription.
You can purchase the feat you want for $2, which will be discounted off the cost of the Player's Handbook if/when you choose to unlock the full book on D&D Beyond.
