With the release of the new DND 2024 rules, I was wondering what people have decided to do. I got the new PHB and pre-ordered the others (but I'm from the Pacific so we get a later release date) and have been thinking of just using 2024, although I have all of the 2014 so I don't want them to go to waste. I came upon a new DND Beyond article that brings up the idea that we could merge (combine the rules into one), so I wanted to see the community's thoughts.
With my groups, we plan on using 2024 rules as the base and use use all species and sub classes not printed in the 2024 books from the 2014 books. Like wise any rules not covered in the 2024 rules that appear in 2014 books will be used as well.
My adult games I play in have all migrated to 2024 with 2014 subclasses and species as options. My kid's group I've kept on 2014 as we're midcampaign and I like to keep things simple for them but I have switched to the more powerful healing spells and the far simpler surprise and exhaustion rules from the 2024 rules
There is not a selection for our groups situation so I did not vote.
We will not be utilizing one or the other or combining.
We are currently in a Campaign that started before the 2024 version of the Rules came out, so we are using 2014 for that, but One Shots (when not everyone is available for the main Campaign) are now starting to be run with 2024 rules, but with the limited Races/Species and Subclass options, we have run One-Shots with 2014 as well still, it depends on what we are feeling at the time.
Cheers!

Breathe, dragons; sing of the First World, forged out of chaos and painted with beauty. Sing of Bahamut, the Platinum, molding the shape of the mountains and rivers; Sing too of Chromatic Tiamat, painting all over the infinite canvas. Partnered, they woke in the darkness; partnered, they labored in acts of creation.
This is kind of tough one to vote on. We have shifted completely to 2024, but we still use Monsters of the Multiverse, Fizban's and Bigby's for the monsters and species options. I have a feeling that once the new Monster Manual comes out we may drop down just the MotM for the extra species but we will wait and see.
I currently play 2014 rules in the two games that are still running. I am looking for a 2024 game though and, for the sake of simplicity, would gladly just play the 2024 rules and subclasses. However, as someone who is absolutely in love with the Eloquence Bard, I would personally be fine with 2014 subclasses at a 2024 table.
The 2024 rules changed too many core features for my preferred classes for me to want to use those rules, so I'm sticking with 2014 rules if I keep playing.
Our current campaign which started Sep. 18th was initially planned for 2014 rules, and 3/5ths of the PC's chose 2014-only subclasses. One of the other PC's made their character later than the rest accidentally picked a 2024 subclass, then the DM held a vote about which ruleset to use, and 2024 rules narrowly won. Everyone kept their subclass, but a half-elf (Drow) switched to a full-elf Drow. A level 4 feat I had originally planned to take changed under 2024 rules in a way which now made it effectively redundant with my subclass, so I decided to not take that one.

2024 rules with 2014+ subclasses/species that are not in the 2024 PHB.
