When picking your character characteristics, for personal traits it says to pick two. But, for the others it doesn't. Does that mean that for the others, you can only pick one? Or, as many as you like, just so long as it fits your character?
Those traits aren't a hard mechanic. They're more of suggestions on how a character you can play. I believe it says you can roll, choose one or make up your own. So you can pick one, two or as many as you like. The idea is to come away with the outline of a character-- a person-- rather than just a block of stats.
Or you can not use them at all and just come up with a well rounded "person" that is nuanced and realistic with in the frame of an unrealistic fantasy world.
Personally, I hate the lists because they are at once extremely generic and specific to the point of advocating PCs be played as Wangrods.

There is that. I definitely did not rule that out, I just find my self lacking in the area of creativity. I just wasn't sure if there was a set number that I missed. I am definitely going for realism.
Generally, you are supposed to have 2 personal traits and 1 ideal, bond, and flaw. You can use the ones suggested for the background or make some up (or not use them at all, but I recomend it).

I got ya. I did see that I could roll for them, but I wasn't sure if I was limited to what was there or not. Thank you.
You can pick some from other backgrounds if you feel they'd fit your character better.
I meant in general when picking them, no matter the back ground.

I find they can be helpful when trying to flesh out how to play the character.
Once or twice when I had a hard decision to make, I used the traits to guide what my character would do.
