So I wanna build Aquaman, and I have 2 builds in mind. One is triton with 6 lvl fighter with 14 lvls in draconic sorc which is rebranded as fish and the wings are water propulsion. The other is Sea elf with the way of the 4 elements monk with like the abilities catering to the water-based skills like breath of winter, unbroken air (Flavored like the trident shot thing), water whip, and either flowing river or north wind (with the wind being like water chains)
Of course either way the main weapon is a trident. I was thinking monk cause trident fighting also uses hands and feet so that will be fun. And the triton one is cause of the Cha boost from triton.
So how're the builds and which will ya recommend. And if you have some suggestions please give me some XD
use monk as the starting class, and while tridents aren't monk weapons, shortswords are. ask if you can sub in a trident for a shortsword, but without the versatile trait. You already have "water propulsion" from swimming speed, and aquaman doesn't really spellcast. This way he gets a trident, a not bad build, and some water magic. Ask your DM if the monk's increased movement also increases your swimming speed (maybe it says in volo's but IDK so...)
Can you elaborate on the reasoning on fighter dip?
So the water propulsion that I mentioned was for a flavoring for the dragon wings in the first build (I know Aquaman can't fly but I can just take another lvl in fighter to get and give up on the flight XD). I know Aquaman can't cast magic, so the spells I was planning on were basically cold-based magic for the water flavor.
I think for a monk based build a sea elf (though I get the Triton appeal cause they are basically Atlantians) would be better cause I get a buff to dex from the elf base and +1 in Con never hurts anyone XD.
Also, the bonus to movement speed from monk applies to any kind of movement, I think Crawford said something bout this though I'm too lazy to go and find the tweet.
If you can find it then Triton Barbarian (Path of the Depths form the Bilgewater thing that was around a while ago) + Warlock (Marid Genie patron) could be interesting.

If this is played by a DM, I suggest this build:
triton
some number of levels in fighter
4 elements monk

Honestly...the "Lurker in the Deep" Warlock from Unearthed Arcana probably is the best "Aquaman".
Choose Triton as your race; go "Pact of the Blade" and grab a trident...and presto!

I thought so too XD but apparently the server I played on explicitly bans Lurker subclass even though I think it's not terribly unbalanced XD
