I'm trying to homebrew a subclass of barbarian that is centered around increasing the power of Dragonborn breath weapons. First of all, is it possible to add a requirement of being a Dragonborn to select this subclass? It's okay if it's not possible, that part isn't a big deal. What I would really like to know is can a class trait alter a racial trait? Specifically, a feature I want is that the number of times you can use your breath weapon increases as you level up. I suppose I could add a class feature that is the exact same as the breath weapon and give it the amount of uses I want -1, but that isn't exactly ideal.

No to both. However, you could just have the class feature track the additional uses without displaying the rest of it again
