Modifier - Bonus - Hit Points - 2d8 - Fixed Value =2 (2d8+2). No actions, other uses, anything on the character sheet that shows this ability. Is it just not functional currently?

I'm not good at D&D Beyond's homebrew tools, but I think that maybe increases your hit points. Putting it in the description might be what you have to do.
That modifier and submodifier are for spells like Cure Wounds. It would theoretically be the correct combination for this too, but they’ve never conceived of something like this since the system is only designed to be able to replicate what WotC has designed and they haven’t designed something like that. The real issue is that they haven’t attached Actions to Magic Items yet.
The only other thing you could do is add the spell Cure Wounds to the weapon.
You could always just use plain text in the item. The dice trey on the character sheet can totally roll 2d8, and your player can (hopefully) add +2 mentally.

Figured. It's alright, I just have some players that only use dnd beyond for their character sheet but it's never to late to use paper lol.
I DID think about putting Cure Wounds on the sword, but I want it to do specifically 2d8+2, since that's what a unicorn does.
I've done some waiting, I can do some more.
