I'm working on a homebrew Artificer subclass that gets calligrapher's supplies as a proficiency. I started from a copy of Artillerist which has woodworking tools, but the Tool Proficiency feature says "Select an Artisan Tool". Which when I tested with Artillerist seems to work by giving you woodworking if you don't have it already, and the dropdown to select a tool if you do have woodworking. Neat.
But if I change it to calligrapher's supplies for my subclass, I don't get that nice "default" setting. Is this a hardcoded thing in the official subclasses, or is there a way to make it work for me too? The other Artificer subclasses seem to work the same way.

There is a special field where the default gets set, but we don’t have access to it, it is locked behind admin privileges. It is what it is.
