I'm ironing out a background at the moment, but I can't find how to add starting wealth to the background. Can someone point me in the right direction please?

This post in the Demystifying Homebrew thread has allll the details on what the various forms are for for homebrewing Backgrounds. It's a lot to take in, though.

What I recommend is making a homebrew copy of an existing background that comes with starting gold, and seeing how it's implemented. Either way, you'll be looking in the Equipment section of the Background homebrew edit page.
