im bringing thri-kreen back from older editions and the unarmored defense they get broke monks and barbarians. for some reason the bonuses stack and my thri-kreen monk has a 36 armor class. do yall know any way to fix this? i want to actually play him instead of it being a broken mess

Provide a link to the homebrew race (DO NOT publish it, staff members can examine unpublished homebrew). Also provide the link to the character sheet (url not share link) of your Monk with 36 AC.

What modifier did you use for the AC on your Thei-Kreen?

You don’t have to “share” anything. Go to the address bar at the top of your character sheet, highlight the URL, “copy” it, and “paste it into a post in this thread. Then, do the exact same thing for the Homebrew race.

idk what happened but i chose replacement instead of granted and it just entirely removed it, but it works now i guess?

Exactly what unarmored Armor Class calculation are you trying to have for the Thri-Kreen? 13 + DEX? Something else?

yeah 13+dex, i dont know how to make that seperate from the monk ability if its even possible

For that, what you want is:

Modifier: Set ->Subtype: Unarmored Armor Class, Fixed value: 3

There's an assumed base value of 10, hence why just 3, and DEX is already included.

i did what you said and its still stacking with the unarmored bonus for monks. is there any way to fix this or is it just stuck. the stacking is only to 21 now though

Use the "Set" modifier, not "Bonus".

You may need to wait up to 20 minutes for homebrew changes to reach the character sheet. Clicking in the Inspiration box twice and then reloading the page may also help.

I'd take a look at the character but the link you provided earlier is giving me a 404 error.
