I'm trying to make a spell that increases by 1d6 per level. I've looked at all the settings in a ton of different spells with the same scaling and I've copied them exactly, but no additional dice are actually added on the character spell sheet. It just says 'Count: +1'. How do I fix this so that additional dice are automatically added when rolling?
You are using the wrong Higher Level Scaling Scale Effect. Change it from “Additional Count” to “Additional Points.” After that you MUST re-save the entire spell using the main [SAVE CHANGES] button under Basic Information or the system won’t pick up your changes.
I have those settings already and I always make sure to save it, maybe it’s just bugged. I’ll just delete the spell and start over with the right settings, thanks for the reply though :)
Do keep in mind that it can take a while before any changes take effect (up to 20 minutes); sometimes you can short circuit it by removing the spell from a character then adding it back in, though this won't always work (sometimes it still uses the older version of the spell).
Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.
