So I edited one of my homebrew subraces, and republished it after "creating a new version", but now my homebrew race has like 7 different subraces when there's only supposed to be 2. I don't want to have to restart and do it all over, but is there any other way to fix this? (side note: every time I created a new version, the number of adds would go up)
Unfortunately creating new versions of a homebrew race that has sub-races is a complete mess at the moment; when I've done it in the past I had to recreate every sub-race as they weren't copied along with the parent race into my new version. I also have a couple of dozen orphaned sub-race copies in my homebrew collection. No idea why DDB let us create sub-races when the tools can't cope with it.
In the end what I started doing was organising my "sub races" as options under the main race, eliminating the need to use "proper" sub-races; I created a guide on how to do this that may or may not help others. It's how I implemented my Large-sized Minotaur and Troll races.
Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.
Unfortunately this is one of the many reasons I suggest that people not publish heir homebrews until they are sure all playtesting and editing are %100 completed.
